Riveting BBC series on the lives and trials of a group of WWI RAF (Royal Flying Corps) pilots. Tim Woodward is a young blacksmith who battles his way into the RAF in a time when the class divides are rigid and flight corps pilot spots are reserved for the upper-classes. The average pilot lives just 6 weeks in the new world of air warfare and the British pilots struggle with unreliable, inferior and outright dangerous planes; as well as the resentment of trenches soldiers, who consider the RAF the easy life. Excellent historical accuracy combined with absorbing story telling and outstanding performances.
