The CW may still consider staking out "The Lost Boys" as a live-action TV series, after the network previously passed on a TV pilot directed by Catherine Hardwicke ("Twilight") that updated the comic book reading, vampire-killing 'Frog Brothers' into the woke 'Frog Sisters':
"...in the original movie 'The Lost Boys', still mourning the death of her husband, 'Lucy' is forced to move back home to 'Santa Carla', California — something she’s dreaded since causing a town scandal 27 years ago, when she ditched her boyfriend to run off with another man.
"Lucy's elder son 'Michael' planning to attend 'Columbia Medical' school is thrown off by the diagnosis that he shares the same genetic weakness that killed his father. The only thing that consoles him is the friendship he strikes up with 'Stella', a young woman who runs a concession stand on the Santa Carla boardwalk.

Spoiler Alert: Do not read ahead if you have not watched the Season 10 season premiere of “The Masked Singer,” which aired Sept. 10 on Fox.
“The Masked Singer” kicked off its 10th season on Sunday night with a special episode — and a lotta Lovato. Demi Lovato as “Anonymouse” was the first celebrity unmasked this season — although there’s an asterisk there. Lovato didn’t appear as part of the competition (otherwise they absolutely would have continued into future weeks), but as a one-off.
Lovato, of course, got their start at Disney — a.k.a. the Mouse House — via the Disney Channel movie “Camp Rock” and series “Sonny with a Chance.” So the “Anonymouse” character itself was most definitely a hint to Lovato’s identity under the mask.
Lovato opened the show with a strong take on “What About Love,” as originally performed by Heart. “Just like Michelle Obama, Oprah and Angelina Jolie,...

“The Bear” Season 2 has become FX’s biggest premiere on Hulu ever, according to the Disney-owned brands. After debuting all 10 episodes June 22 on the streaming platform, FX reported a 70% increase in total hours streamed compared to Season 1 over a four-day period.

If you grew up reading Arnold Lobel’s books or have kids you’ve shared the award-winning adventures with, Apple TV+’s “Frog and Toad” animated series serves as an extension of the characters you know and love. At least that’s the main goal for showrunner Rob Hoegee, who also loved the books as a child.
“These are iconic characters just begging to be pulled into an animated show,” Hoegee told IndieWire. “My goal was to have a faithful adaptation of the books to preserve the characters as everyone remembers them.”
Like the book series, “Frog and Toad” follows best friends who enjoy the things they have in common while embracing their differences. The voice cast includes Nat Faxon and Kevin Michael Richardson as Frog and Toad, respectively, alongside Ron Funches, Fortune Feimster, Cole Escola and more.

The short stories of Haruki Murakami are becoming an increasing fixture on the big screen––it may have taken considerably more time since their initial publications, but not since Stephen King’s earliest collections has an author’s back catalog found itself getting adapted so rapidly. After Lee Chang-dong and Ryusuke Hamaguchi managed to weave epic tales of obsession and grief from two comparatively conversational works (in their respective masterpieces Burning and Drive My Car), a handful of other tales are adapted far more faithfully for the screen in Pierre Földes’ animated anthology.
Named after Murakami’s 2006 collection of the same name, Blind Willow, Sleeping Woman recontextualizes several of his more fantastical short stories, relocating them to a Tokyo still reeling from the devastating earthquakes of March 2011. In doing so, Földes creates something of an unofficial MCU (Murakami Cinematic Universe), tying together several narratives unrelated in their source materials via...

London-based PR maven Matthew Freud, joined by fellow Brit and collaborator Charlie Mackesy, offered his apologies for winning the Oscar for Short Film (Animated) for The Boy, The Mole, The Fox and the Horse.
“I’ve never made a film before, so this is bewildering,” Freud said in accepting the trophy. “I know the protocol is to say ‘thank you’ a lot, but I’m British, so I’m more comfortable saying ‘sorry.’ So, I’m really sorry to all the people who should be on this stage with us,” alluding to the large crew and voice cast who teamed up for two years during Covid to make the film. Freud closed by quipping that he was “also really sorry to my children, my girlfriend and my colleagues at [PR firm] Freuds for basically being absent over the last two years.”
The Boy came into Oscar night as a heavy favorite in the category.

And to think, at one time there were skeptics who claimed that a Muppet film couldn’t be done! That only humans could star in successful films! Boy, did Jim Henson and co. prove them wrong! The Muppet Movie was a huge hit in 1979 and spawned decades of sequels. Now it is available in a Blu-ray/Digital combo pack that is loaded with terrific extras.
The Muppet Movie is essentially a road movie. After meeting a Hollywood agent and learning that a big film studio is holding auditions, Kermit the Frog hits the highway, picking up various friends on the way. First he meets Fozzie Bear, telling jokes in a nasty cafe. Then they meet Dr. Teeth and the Electric Mayhem, and then Gonzo and his chicken friend Camilla, and then the incomparable Miss Piggy, and finally Rowlf the Dog. All of these guys decide to head for Tinseltown to hit the big time.

Horror fans may have mixed feelings about the ongoing Final Destination franchise, but with Final Destination 5 fated to make it’s stand in theaters on Friday, August 12th, one thing we can count on is a roller coaster of death-defying thrills. Actor Tony Todd also returns as the mysterious Mr. William Bludworth, a mortician with an unusual knowledge of death and the rules of the fabled Grim Reaper.
