This special summer tournament was an invitational tournament that features 36 contestants; 35 from the first 6 seasons of Jeopardy! (1984) and 1 player from the original Jeopardy! (1964). All contestants were playing to make it to the final game to win the $250,000 challenge.
The Quarter-Final games featured 4 contestants instead of 3. However, the Semi-Final games and the Final game had 3 players.
The intro featured an updated globe graphic in the intro with smoother animation the one seen on the regular Jeopardy! (1984) shows.
The set looked just as it did on the regular shows with a few alterations: the floor was black, the gameboard featured a granite look to it and the category names were written in blue text instead of red.
For this tournament, the Jeopardy! and Double Jeopardy! rounds were played for points instead of cash. The Jeopardy! round was worth 200 to 1000 points in increments of 200 points. The Double Jeopardy! round was worth 500 to 2500 in increments of 500 points. Just like the regular shows, there was 1 Daily Double in the Jeopardy! round and 2 Daily Doubles in the Double Jeopardy! round.
