Al Falfa Goes Prospecting
boblipton24 November 2020
A long time gold prospector anadons his faithful burro for a Jeep when his quest changes from gold to Uranium.

Is this the last Terrytoon that used Farmer Al Falfa? It may not be him in name, but that is the character design in the 1950s for the character. Al first showed up in Paul Terry's second cartoon, DOWN ON THE PHONY FARM in 1915. Terry would use him several times a year as he went to Van Beuren in the 1920s, and left to form his own studio at the dawn of sound. I suppose he was a lucky penny for Terry.

This is an amiable cartoon intended for the kids. Terry was a success because he produced over eleven hundred cartoons from 1915 through 1957, but he seemed to become unambitious after he got his contract with 20th Century Fox;. he reworked a small number of plots every few years, and set his aim at pleasing small children. Still, he kept some of his staff, like Connie Rasinski, who directed this cartoon, for decades.
