Clancy the Bull
boblipton2 December 2014
Bulldog, actually, but it's a good name for a cop. This Terrytoon from the year before Paul Terry sold the studio is certainly ambitious. It's shot in Cinemascope at a 2:35 aspect ratio. There's a lot of internal masking going on, and large swaths of unadorned background color. Every once in a while it uses the full screen, though.

Not that it makes much difference. This cartoon about Clancy chasing a thief uses a flat-voiced narration (like a lot of movies, which wanted to be DRAGNET) as he chases a thief. There are several fairly amusing gags drawn from movie comedy's grab bag and it's all put together well enough to keep you smiling throughout.
