This is a one-shot short produced by the Terrytoons studio. There will be spoilers ahead:
This one has a few laughs, but it's essentially a "To fill contractual obligations" short. Even for Terrytoons, this is a paint-by-numbers effort. Nothing terribly novel here.
Looey is an old and worn-out lion in a circus. He refuses to accept the obvious, insisting he's still as good as he was before. He then goes out and makes a mess of his act, unintentionally drawing laughs from the crowd. The ringmaster then tells him he's now a clown. He stomps off in a huff only to return.
His turn as a clown is less than successful and he's dismissed from the circus. Refusing to give up, he works on a high wire act until he has it down. He then returns to the circus, angering the ringmaster, who accidentally puts the lion and his bike on the wire, where the lion is a hit.
Becoming jealous, the ringmaster sabotages Looey, ultimately firing him out of a cannon. The ending is the best part, so I won't spoil it here.
Worth watching once.
