Back when Slain was originally launched as a Kickstarter project in early 2015, it was pitched as being an homage to the gory side-scrolling hack and slash titles of the 80s and 90s, with just a hint or two of heavy metal thrown in for good measure. A successful campaign saw Wolf Brew Games release the title to market and find a generally negative reaction in response to their efforts. It’s to the developers’ credit that they’ve stuck with it, attempted to buff out the bugs, improve the gameplay, and come back for a second spin with this new version – Slain: Back from Hell.
The initial impression that the new game makes – and it very much feels like an entirely new game at times – is a good one, too. A massive number of bugs have been squashed since the initial launch, meaning that Bathoryn’s trek through the seven...

After years of development, it’s safe to say that many were disappointed with how Slain! turned out. Wolf Brew Games’ 2D adventure was savaged by critics, including our own Alexander Chatziioannou. The developer has heard everyone’s concerns, though, and hopes to remedy them with a brand new update to the title.
The newly-christened Slain: Back From Hell is being described as a “night and day” change from the launch version. Both Wolf Brew Games and publisher Digerati realized that the problems with the game needed more than just quick fixes and so, for the past five months, they’ve been working hard to get the title into proper shape.
Digerati offered up an explanation as to what went wrong with the original release of Slain!, and how they have improved what was wrong with it.

The Originals' crazy antics are back and making few allowances for short-memoried viewers...
This review contains spoilers.
1.14 Long Way Back From Hell
The return of The Originals was a strange one if, like me, you are prone to forgetting exact circumstances of complicated cliffhangers. As if the Winter Olympics never happened, Long Way Back From Hell continued from exactly where we had left off – with Klaus and Rebekah kidnapped by Celeste’s cronies and Elijah feeling a tad guilty about saving Hayley over his own flesh and blood. Guilty and angry Mikaelsons have become the status quo at this point and, while Elijah took care of the former, Klaus definitely fits into the latter category now that Rebekah’s deepest, darkest secret has been unveiled.
Yet the news that she and Marcel had conspired to bring Michael to New Orleans back in the day...

The Originals Episode 114
“Long Way Back From Hell”
Written by Ashley Lyle and Bart Nickerson
Directed By: Matt Hastings
Original Airdate: 25 February 2014
In This Episode…
Genevieve has Rebekah and Klaus tied up in separate parts of an abandoned hospital. Rebekah has been poisoned with werewolf venom, making her weak, unstable, and easy to torture. Klaus has been sedated by the giant bone dagger embedded in his abdomen. Genevieve assures Klaus that she is not there to hurt Klaus, and she proves this by cutting open his torso, reaching in, and removing the dagger. It hurts like hell but it allows Klaus to begin to heal. She has mixed up a concoction using Rebekah’s blood that will allow Klaus to see into Rebekah’s mind, and view the torture she is going through.
Rebekah has been brought to this hospital for a reason: it was the source of Genevieve’s distress with Rebekah,...

Airs Tuesdays at 8pm Est on The CW
On this week’s The Originals, Rebekah and Klaus suffer at the hands of vengeful witches, Elijah hunts for his siblings with Hayley and Marcel’s help, and the witches prepare Sophie’s grave.
Despite the hiatus, The Originals wastes no time throwing the audience headlong back into action–”Long Way Back From Home”‘s cold open is one of the best the show’s done yet. Everything is spot-on, from Claire Holt’s acting to director Hasting’s choice of shots to the creepy flashbacks juxtaposed with Rebekah’s fracturing mental state. The best shows know how to draw the audience into characters’ emotions rather than simply show them, and Hastings does a great job making the audience feel as crazy...

"The Originals" Episode 114, "Long Way Back from Hell," packed one heck of a punch for vampire/werewolf hybrid Klaus (Joseph Morgan) and his myriad trust issues. He found out that his sister, Rebekah (Claire Holt), was the one who sent the deadly Original family patriarch Michael to New Orleans to kill him so that she could be with Marcel (Charles Michael Davis).
Although there was technically some double betrayal at the end of the episode when Elijah (Daniel Gillies) stabbed Klaus so that Rebekah and Marcel could get away from Klaus' rage, Klaus will be focused on Rebekah first when he wakes up.
"When Klaus learns the truth and comes out of it, he will see red and in that red will be Rebekah. That'll be his target," Morgan tells Zap2it. "She's family, she's known him for 1000 years, she's his sister and he's always felt protective over her. This...

Not to build your hopes up too much, but Joseph Morgan says Tuesday's (Feb. 25) episode of "The Originals," "Long Way Back From Hell," could be the best episode of the series to date.
"My hopes are that [people] will look back on this episode as a benchmark of that's where we found our beat, that's where we found really what kind of show we're going to be," Morgan tells Zap2it. "We've had a great start, don't get me wrong -- the episodes have all been very good, but like all shows in the first season you want to find your base, where exactly you're going to fit. My feelings are 14 is the right place."
The episode is told mainly via flashback to 1919 New Orleans -- which mean's we'll finally learn the horrible secret Marcel (Charles Michael Davis) and Rebekah (Claire Holt) have been keeping for nearly a century. The episode...

It’s Monday, so we all know what that means! Yes, it’s time for another rundown of DVDs and Blu-ray’s hitting stores online and offline this week. It’s a very light week this week, so let us breakdown the new releases and highlight what you should – and shouldn’t – be buying from today, January 7th 2013.
Pick Of The Week
The Imposter (DVD/Blu-ray)
In 1994, 13 year-old Nicholas Barclay disappears from his home in Texas. Three years later he is found in Spain, disorientated and quivering with fear. His family is overjoyed to bring him home. But all is not what it seems. Whilst he bears many of the same distinguishing marks and tattoos, the boy looks decidedly different and now speaks with a strange accent. In Back from Hell six friends find themselves tangled up in a haunted building where possession is apparently in style. Are any of these youngsters wise enough to call an early halt to their expedition or are they content to watch one another die There are numerous problems with this horror movies (I cant even believe Im writing this review the film was so nauseating) the primary issue being the lack of a coherent story. Nothing about this picture makes sense.

Reading a review of the latest direct-to-dvd found footage movie is about as exciting as watching one, as many of these features contain the same inherent flaws and weaknesses. So, to buck the trend, I'm starting my review of Back from Hell on a positive note.
The acting was pretty good and the entire cast was composed of adults, not a bunch of CW tween show "stars." And one character does follow the horror handbook and makes sure a supernatural being won't follow them.
But that's all I have. Back from Hell has a few interesting twists that might have differentiated it from the glut of found footage possession movies flooding the home market. But the script leaves too much unresolved and focuses too heavily on having the cast wander through dark locations as a means to generate suspense.

A professor heads into the Amazonian jungle to find a lost documentary film crew only to find that they have all been killed by the native population. What remains though are cans of undeveloped film that document the crew’s journey and their ultimate fate. Returning to New York the professor delivers the footage to a TV studio, a studio staffed by ratings hungry producers who intend to broadcast a special based around this footage. What is contained within though, rape, murder, animal slaughter and many other atrocities lead them to question this choice.
One of very few films included on the infamous ‘video nasty’ list that actually deserves the ‘nasty’ label and one of only a few (along with I Spit on Your Grave and a couple of others) that still has a lot of potential to shock and disgust, Cannibal Holocaust makes its way onto UK Blu-ray in...
