This Terrytoons about a fish who wanted to fly is pretty much standard fare for the Terry firm, although there is one sly wink when they start the classic limerick about the pelican.... and give up after the first line. Structurally the gags concentrate in the first quarter and then the action takes place in the final minute, when Our Hero rescues his scoffing fellow finny friends.

Pretty much standard for Paul Terry, Casper the Friendly Ghost or any of a hundred works aimed at children by adults who don't recall being five, but wish to teach the kiddies a Very Important Lesson. That's why, despite the competence with which this cartoon is executed, I don't care for it: only the sort of people who wouldn't watch cartoons would rate it highly.

Pretty Ordinary

This is a tale of a sort of rebellious fish who is shunned by the others. He tries his best to get some attention and should, rightfully, manage it. There are lots of pitfalls along the way, but when the pelicans arrive, trouble starts. It isn't the greatest cartoon ever, but it has a few moments.
