This soap opera was almost titled "A Filha da Mãe" (Mother's Daughter) which, in Brazilian Portuguese has a derogatory meaning, like "son of a bitch" in English. As Filhas da Mãe (2001) would receive this title and face eventual controversy, but was produced and aired anyway.
