In picking up the pieces of May’s calamitous, Scratch-orchestrated car crash, Criminal Minds‘ Season 13 premiere ultimately set in motion a chain of events that reached out and touched Aaron Hotchner, who has been tucked away in Witsec.

When Reid fears his mother has been abducted, he asks the Bau to investigate while he's stuck in prison on Criminal Minds Season 12 Episode 21.
But that doesn't have much to do with our clip.
Because our clip is great.
It goes something like this. The gang is sitting around the break room trying to determine how they can fix things for Reid.
Why did Scratch choose Lindsay to be inside girl in his business anyway?
They have theories and they're tossing them around when Prentiss steps into the conversation.
They'd best speed things up because they have only hours before they have to prove their case.
When Prentiss gets back to her office, the big news comes out.
Garcia is waiting for her with her resignation notice.
But that's not all. It's what pushed her over the edge into resignation territory (and Prentiss' reaction to it) that's really shocking.

Many of the actors on VH1’s new scripted series The Breaks (premiering Monday, Feb. 20) were just kids during the early ’90s era of hip-hop captured in loving detail on the show. Yet, they’re still able to channel the spirit of that moment in the culture’s history because of how far they’ve gone to prepare for their roles.
For Mack Wilds, who also stars on Fox’s racially charged drama Shots Fired, premiering March 22, that meant actually learning how to spin records in order to add to hip-hop producer DeeVee’s skill set. When DeeVee takes part in a DJ battle at NYC’s New Music Seminar on the show, Wilds was prepared to go through the motions.

2 Chainz and Allen Iverson have lavish taste buds ... Especially when it comes to their booze. We got a hold of the rapper and the NBA legend's rider for the bash they're hosting at Republic in New Orleans for NBA All-Star weekend, and the duo is damn clear about 1 thing -- ballers only chug, mix and spray the best liquor. 2 Chainz demands 4 bottles of Ace of Spades, 3 bottles of Dom Perignon and 3 bottles of Ciroc, different flavors.

A collection of original music, the game's score, and tracks featured in the game's radio stations make up the massive "Grand Theft Auto V" music collection, out now on iTunes.
Oh, I get it--69 tracks. Clever, Rockstar.
The three volumes are available now as either separate purchases at $9.99 each or as a single download for $24.99 via iTunes. The collection includes original music from artists like Twin Shadow and Neon Indian on "Vol. 1: Original Music," to the incidental music and score of "Vol. 2: The Score," and remixed and licensed songs on "Vol. 3: The Soundtrack."
The release of the soundtrack continues Rockstar's media domination following the billion dollar launch of "GTA V" last week for the PS3 and Xbox 360. It's also not the first time they've had a major launch for one of the game's soundtracks: fans of "Vice City" may recall the lavish soundtrack for that game which...

The new documentary from Doug Pray, "Levitated Mass," is a story about an artist, a museum, a city, a piece of art. But what it's really about is a rock. A rock that's a star. Quite possibly one of the most famous rocks in the world, Levitated Mass, the massive monolithic land sculpture by land artist Michael Heizer that currently resides at the Los Angeles County Museum of Art. It's a story of hope, inspiration, fellowship, and the definition of what art is to the many individuals that make up the public that experienced Levitated Mass in its journey to Lacma. The film is all of those things because of Doug Pray, who is an immensely talented documentarian ("Hype!", "Scratch," "Art & Copy," and more), whose deft but unobtrusive direction makes the film so much more than just an advertisement for Lacma. The story of Levitated Mass goes back to 1969, when...

On October 30, the academy will host a special event at New York City's Canal Room to celebrate the 10-year milestone and the legacy of the trailblazing Run Dmc member.
Since its inception, the art of DJing has evolved from two turntables in the parks of urban America to a lucrative multimillion-dollar global business. Granted, today's celebrated party rockers are ubiquitous across pop culture, thanks to the likes of pioneers such as DJ Kool Herc, Grandmaster Flash, Grand Wizard Theodore, Afrika Bambaataa and the late Jam Master Jay, to name a few.
The path to attaining such skills might have been a bit inscrutable -- at least until...

John Akomfrah's "commitment to a radicalism both of politics and of cinematic form finds expression in all his films," writes Sukhdev Sandhu in a profile for the Guardian. "Seven Songs for Malcolm X (1993) draws on the photographer James Van Der Zee's The Harlem Book of the Dead and Sergei Paradjanov's The Color of Pomegranates (1968) to fashion a probing, internationalist vision of the black radical leader that is far removed from the conventional hero projected in Spike Lee's biopic the previous year; The Last Angel of History (1995) advanced the concept of the 'data thief' as part of its argument about science-fiction elements in the music of Sun Ra, George Clinton and Lee Scratch Perry. Akomfrah's new film, The Nine Muses, is a multilayered, gorgeously shot and affecting work that interweaves archival footage of black and Asian people traveling to and working in Britain with moody, elliptical shots of...

Akomfrah's Handsworth Songs attracted a huge audience when shown in the wake of last summer's riots. His new film, The Nine Muses, uses Homer to explore mass migration to Britain
John Akomfrah, widely recognised as one of Britain's most expansive and intellectually rewarding film-makers, has never been afraid of a battle. Back in the 1970s, when he was barely out of his teens, he tried to screen Derek Jarman's homoerotic Sebastiane at the film club of the Southwark further education college, where he was studying. "There were rows. Black kids were throwing chairs everywhere. They were saying 'you can't show this'. So we stopped the film and had a discussion: what do you mean, 'We can't show this film'? It was clear there were forms of propriety for black spectatorship. Rather than run back into the field, I thought: let's just accelerate it. Let's push these boundaries a little bit more.

Gil Gerard played Buck Rogers in the TV show Buck Rogers in the 25th Century for two years starting in 1979 and is co-starring as Buck Rogers’ dad in a new reboot. Between deep space adventures, he’s kept busy as a TV actor and can soon be seen in the new horror flick Blood Fare.

With Hot Sauce Committee, Part Two due in stores today, we look back to 1998, when the Beasties rode the wheels of steel with 'Scratch.'

In 1998, the Beastie Boys had entered a new phase in their career. Buoyed by the success of 1992's Check Your Head and '95's Ill Communication, they had become a respected, downright revered act, the kind capable of doing whatever they want, with whomever they saw fit. They had certainly earned that right, and on their Hello Nasty album, they were determined to take full advantage.
And while we can only speculate how songs like "I Don't Know" (featuring Miho Hatori, then of Cibo Matto, on guest vocals), the Krautrock-indebted "And Me," the jazzy, bossa-nova instrumentals-laden "Sneakin' Out the Hospital" and "Song for Junior" ended up making the cut, we know...

Bradford Film Festival
Honouring its status as the world's first Unesco "City of Film", Bradford's festival brings over 100 features from around the world, including several premieres. But the city stays true to its industrial roots by going for quality of manufacture over glitziness of packaging. Guests include familiar names like Terry Gilliam, Timothy Spall, Claire Bloom and Werner Herzog (by satellite), but the emphasis is more on unexplored territory. A focus on genuinely indie Us cinema could dig up some gems (like Aaron Katz's Cold Weather), there's all-day horror (with the suggestively titled Hobo With A Shotgun), and a subversive tribute to film provocateur Amos Vogel. The closest you'll get to glamour are Woody Allen's You Will Meet A Tall Dark Stranger and Woody Harrelson-led post-Iraq drama The Messenger, or the 70mm-plus epics celebrated in the popular Widescreen Weekend.

Adult Swim’s Dana Snyder and Fred’s Ken Plume set out to have a literate conversation between two pals, but inevitably devolve into a verbal, and funny, free-for-all full of bickering, infighting, and the special kind of male bonding that comes from conflict expressed through the podcast medium.

Influential punk singer was 48 years old.

British punk singer Ari Up (born Arianna Forster), who formed the influential band the Slits when she was only 14 years old, has passed away at the age of 48. According to stepfather John Lydon (aka Johnny Rotten of the Sex Pistols and the recently reunited Public Image Ltd.), Up succumbed to an undisclosed "serious illness" on Wednesday (October 20).
Though the history of British punk is dominated by the social nose-thumbing of the Sex Pistols and the political rabble-rousing of the Clash, the Slits were right up there in terms of influence. The second episode of Hell’s Kitchen saw the emergence of what might be this season’s main conflict. On one side: Autumn, who only wants to help her teammates. On the other side: her teammates, begging her to please take her help elsewhere. Unfortunately for them, Chef Ramsay likes Autumn. If you ask me, he can sense a superstar. I’m not sure I would eat at a restaurant managed by Autumn, but I would definitely watch a reality TV show about a restaurant managed by Autumn. I can’t say that about any of the other contestants so far.

Gone but not forgotten. This past weekend family, friends and fans came out to say their final goodbye to record spinner DJ Hideo, who passed away the week prior from complications from colon cancer. The famed Bum Squad DJ who coined the phrase "Live Life" admitted himself to a local hospital back in February when he was diagnosed with stage four colon cancer that had already spread to his liver. To raise awareness on the deadly disease, Hideo launched a blog that gave frequent updates on his condition.
The last blog entry, posted on April 24, read: "Hi everyone! Wanted to let everybody know that I check in back @ Mission hospital last week because of the weakness that I’ve been feeling for the past week. My vitals are stable and now need the assistance of a ventilator to breathe. I’m very aware of my condition and communicate in writing.

The BBC's program guide confirms that the third and final season of the 80's set "Life on Mars" spin-off will begin screening in the UK on BBC1 sometime in a little over two weeks (sometime in the week of March 20th-26th). Expect a promo trailer in the next week or so.
Update 10:20am: Scratch that, the BBC have pulled the listing from that week and moved it to the 'Coming Soon' section. This means the premiere will likely be the following week (March 27th-April 2nd).
Hawaii Five-o
Scott Caan will play Danny "Danno" Williams in CBS' reboot. Williams is a New Jersey cop transferred to Hawaii after his divorce to be near his young daughter and is initially leery of his boss McGarrett (Alex O'Loughlin).

Advertising people rank just behind baby-seal clubbers and serial killers in the respect they inspire in the general public. So it’s borderline surreal to see a profession widely demonized as a hellscape of soulless corporate mercenaries treated in a fawningly reverential manner in Art & Copy, a perversely uncritical love letter to legendary commercials and the ad wizards who dream them up. Scratch and Hype director Doug Pray comes not to bury advertising but to praise it, quixotically taking it upon himself to redeem the tattered reputation of an entire industry. Pray’s film offers a nostalgic, rose-colored glance back ...

The life of a documentary filmmaker can be a grueling one, spending months in the editing room putting your film together once you've actually figured out a topic, done all the interviews and figured out exactly how to approach the subject. For filmmaker Doug Pray ( Scratch ), it's been especially tough as he's spent the last four years making three documentaries at once, including the already-released Surfwise about the eccentric family values of surfer Dr. Dorian "Doc" Paskowitz and Big Rig . On Friday, his latest doc Art & Copy takes a fascinating look at the world of advertising--and yes, we do mean Fascinating--through the eyes and words of roughly a dozen of the pioneers in the field from those at the core of the groundswell of the industry during the...

If Don Draper and his fellow Mad Men have taught us anything, it is that advertising, without a doubt, matters. The show gives us a juicy glimpse into the inner machinations of an advertising agency, and how advertisements (and the people who create them) are able to chronicle a time, a place and a generation. But who were the real mad men, the real movers and shakers behind the advertisements we grew up on? Art and Copy, a festival favorite that hits theaters this Friday, chronicles the profound cultural impact made by advertising, and in turn, by the (mostly unsung) creatives behind the message. Tribeca Film asked our own creative, designer Tanya Codispodi, to watch the film and talk with director Doug Pray (Scratch, Hype!, Surfwise). Here's to the crazy ones. The misfits. The rebels. The troublemakers. The round pegs in the square holes. The ones who see things differently.

After Activision bought out the original developer of "Scratch," 7 Studios, the game was left in a kind of limbo. That ends today, as a new developer has been revealed for "Scratch." Commotion Interactive is a division of Bedlam Games, and is a development house focused on music and party games.
Trevor Fencott, CEO of Bedlam Games and Commotion, seems pretty enthusiastic about the project:

I'll always think of them most fondly for the album "Licensed to Ill," one of the first cassette tapes I ever owned, but it's hard to deny the impact the Beastie Boys' presence have had on Hollywood.
For starters, the group's music has been featured on the soundtracks of a varied assortment of movies, including "Pump Up the Volume," "The Jerky Boys," "Above the Rim," "Kids," "La haine," hip hop DJ documentary "Scratch" and, most recently, J.J. Abrams' summer '09 reboot of "Star Trek." Their hit song "Sabotage," off of the album "Ill Communication,...

Yesterday came the yearly announcement from the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences as it extended 134 invitations to several artists and executives "who have distinguished themselves by their contributions to theatrical motion pictures" read the press release. Of course all of them can decline, but I wouldn't necessarily expect that to happen as all who accept the invitation will be the only additions in 2009 to the Academy's roster of voting members. On Tuesday, the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences issued invitations to 134 members of the film community to join the group. There were a maximum of 166 open slots to fill this year, but the various branch committees endorsed fewer candidates than were proposed to them.
Hugh Jackman, who hosted the most recent Oscar show, has been invited to join. So have Anne Hathaway, Emily Blunt, James Franco and Michelle Williams. The list even includes a number of comic performers like Michael Cera, Seth Rogan and Paul Rudd.
Voting membership in the organization has held steady at just under 6,000 members since 2003.
New members will be welcomed into the Academy at an invitation-only reception at the Academy's Fairbanks Center for Motion Picture Study in Beverly Hills in September.
