The Runner Stumbles
Pooch the Pup takes part in several events of the Olympic Games. His efforts are frustrated by paraphernalia that come to life and a news reel camera man who keeps getting in the way.
Pooch appeared in about a dozen cartoons from Walter Lantz. His vehicles were kitchen-sink comedies in which the gags came at a rat-a-tat rate; if this one didn't strike you as funny, another would come along in a second that might make you laugh. In this one, the gags are almost all transformation gags, the sort that arose from the rubber tube animation style. The venue was undoubtedly inspired by the 1932 Summer Olympics which took place in Los Angeles.
This one isn't the best of the bunch. Transformation gags were a drug on the market by this time. It is, however, quite watchable.
