Hobo Scarecrow

Crows descend on a prosperous farmer and try the protection racket on him: ten percent of his crops to make sure that nothing happens. He refuses, and they procede to destroy everything. He puts a sign advertising for a so couple of scarecrows, and two wandering by take up the offer.

It's an interesting view of the rural economy, with the derbied crows talking like city gangsters, and the scarecrows a couple of wandering hoboes. Iwerks pursues som obvious economies, with some sequences reused, and even run backwards. Neither do I like the choices for the color work in this one. Still, it's a pleasant enough cartoon.
