Where can this be found today?

I remember this show very vividly, even close to 30 years after the last show aired. I would actually plead to my parents to stay up late on Sunday nights just to watch the show and follow all the doctors around the hospital settings. At 11, this was very fascinating to me and I actually wanted to be a doctor after seeing all the real-life experiences of a doctor and all the stresses that they faced.

I have searched all over Google, NBC, Tomorrow Entertainment, etc. and have no leads as to where this series can be found or what was done with it. Very likely it was destroyed by NBC but in 1983 I recalling it being distributed by WBBM-TV in Chicago and airing on PBS. Since then, there has been no sign of its whereabouts but would love to re-watch the show and reminisce about how this series changed my life.

I highly recommend this due to its educational storyline and good intent to show a doctor's life is not always revolving around the hospital but that they do too have personal lives as well.

Also, if anyone knows where this series can be found on video or DVD, please add it here!! I welcome any comments and/or concerns.

Forerunner of TLC's Trauma: Life in the ER

What was the first reality show on television? Survivor, The Amazing Race, TLC's Trauma: Life in the ER? If you answered Survivor, The Amazing Race, or TLC's Trauma: Life in the ER, you're wrong. It was a short-lived show on NBC back in 1978 called Lifeline. It's the forerunner of TLC's Trauma: Life in the ER. It came about as an essay. Someone wrote an essay saying that people were tired of dramas because they cost too much to produce. Then he pitched the idea to NBC. The network bought it and put it on its fall schedule. Unfortunately for NBC, it didn't do very well in the ratings. This was back in the days before cable television, before channel surfing with the remote control, before Fox, UPN, and the WB. Back in the good old days when there were only three networks. ABC, CBS, and NBC. Yes, that was the correct order of things in pre-1984 America. NBC was always dead last in the ratings after ABC and CBS. Lifeline was NBC's chance to break out of the pack. Unfortunately, it didn't work.
