Trade unions, carnival and good actors
treada7324 March 2005
In the apogee of the lady's bar movies we see in this comedy, instead of a heap of comic actors with a lot of nude extras (women!), we see a rich cast whose good actors didn't have so much to choose to have a job, thanks of that ,we can see Manuel Ojeda, Noe Murayama, Jose Carlos Ruiz, Alejandro Parodi, who make it believable the matter of trade unions and the corruption between their Mafioso leaders and shipment owners in the Veracruz port, besides, parallel of this, a cabaret story starring for Ninon Sevilla who tries to remember her glorious years as a cabaret dancer ,thirty years after, and Carmen Salinas, whose bad words sound funniest in her mouth than any other, It's a pity that Mario Hernandez end up all of this in an abrupt way, seems like he didn't have idea how to finish it and pick the worst option, anyway the best merit of this movie is owed to his producer, the actor ,Antonio Aguilar, who joined some of the best actors in the Mexican movies at that time.

WASTED NIGHT OF CARNIVAL
whatsupomar30 August 2019
Not even the almost all-star cast, and some fancy camera work by cinematographer Raul Dominguez, (especially in the night club footage) can save this confusing tale of exploited harbor workers, and "ficheras" (dancing prostitutes). By the late 1970s and early 1980s, and beyond, Mexican cinema had deteriorated into the so called "ficheras films" which were nothing but sexploitation at its worse, mixed with loud tropical music, and lousy melodrama. "Noche de carnaval" is just that, and maybe a bit more. As customary by writer Xavier Robles, he added some political rhetoric about corruption in Mexico's labor unions. On these particular sequences, consider it your cue to get snacks from the kitchen or do whatever in the bathroom. When you return, it might be on time to see Ninon Sevilla dancing up a storm in spite of her, let´s say, mature years
