Holden Downs : [Opening lines; dialog intersperses with Holden and the news] I can't believe it! My life's work is being held hostage by some overgrown civil servant? I'm not going to let him get away with this, Harry! No way!
reporter : Early this afternoon, Superior Court Judge Walter Braniff issued a preliminary court injunction against the massive Millennium City project, brainchild of developer Holden Downs.
Holden Downs : Harry, this Judge Braniff. Do you know him?
[pause]
Holden Downs : Well, do you know anybody that does know him? Yeah, like a friend!
[pause]
Holden Downs : Somebody that can talk to him, Harry!
[pause]
Holden Downs : There's gotta be somebody who can talk to him!
reporter : Within an hour of the ruling, construction at the site came grinding to a virtual standstill, and will remain that way until later this week, when Judge Braniff rules on whether or not to lift the injunction.
Holden Downs : What do you mean he won't abort the ruling? I can't have my crew sitting idle all week! Listen to me, Harry. There's a number going through my head; it's 68,493 dollars a day, Harry! That's what it's costing me a day. A DAY!
reporter : Earlier today, Carl Tanner, Leader of the environmental group responsible for bringing to a halt the construction of Millennium City, had this to say:
Marcus Tanner : This is a really great day. I want to thank the court for sending a clear message to Holden Downs: You cannot build Millennium City and destroy the environment.
Holden Downs : Do I want you to call the mayor? Do I want you to inconvenience him? Gee, I don't know Paul, you tell me! There's only thousands of jobs at stake! This could only be my entire life at stake! Maybe I should bend over and let everybody take a shot!
[hangs up]
Holden Downs : Dammit!
[activates buzzer at intercom]
Holden Downs : Cindy, get me Bob over at city hall! How much more of this can I take?
