While frequently hinted at throughout 1970's porn, the rightfully illegal practice of incest albeit employed as fruitful fantasy fodder did not become one of the genre's staple ingredients until the following decade. Husband and wife team Kirdy Stevens and Helene Terrie paved the way with their tremendously popular TABOO in 1980, the semi-serious account of divorced Kay Parker's growing attraction to her strapping son Mike Ranger, spawning a long-running series that continues pretty much unabated until this very day, even though the sibling sex angle was discarded after the 6th episode directed by veteran Gary Graver a/k/a "Robert McCallum". Prior to his efficient helming of that installment, Graver had dabbled in inter-familial relationships with the aptly titled UNTHINKABLE, a very "active" adult comedy that doesn't take its potentially heavy-handed subject seriously for an instant.
Illustrating the old adage that while the cat's away the mice will play, cute little Bunny Bleu and big brother Scott Irish get into mischief as well as each other's pants the moment parents Honey Wilder and Eric Edwards have embarked upon their much-needed weekend getaway. They have been left under the custody of none too strict housekeeper Tamara Longley who's got sexual designs on the teenage twosome herself. Once they've exhausted all possible combinations the three of them can get into, older sister Pamela Mann (the luscious star of Hal Freeman's corny yet captivating X-FACTOR) shows up with boyfriend Jerry Davis (who played the hunky chauffeur with Kay Parker in Vinnie Rossi's DESIRE) to spice things up. Even though she has been kept pretty busy by her horny charges, tasty Tamara still comes on to plumber Mark Harris (a fly by night stud you may recall from his threesome with Tanya Lawson and Jesse Adams in Bob Augustus' massively underrated EROTIC RADIO WSEX) like the proverbial bitch in heat for one of the movie's most highly charged carnal clinches. Mom and dad arrive on the scene in the middle of the night, make out in the outdoor jacuzzi in a sweet if rather too brief scene and decide it's time to have that much-dreaded "birds and bees" talk with their kids, only to find that nature's course has beaten them to it !
Breaking with genre tradition (and boy, has he been taken to task for it !), Graver as usual doubling as his own DoP shoots much of the movie in hazy half-light, which is great for mood but not so much for visibility, the adult industry's defining trademark after all ! If you're like me however and figure that a little subtlety now and then wouldn't go amiss in this line of work, you should greatly appreciate the gesture. The sex is still very detailed and almost non-stop even before the credits have rolled with lusty Longley (one of the hottest starlets of the mid-'80s) who gets things going with a scorching solo. Pert and petite Bunny was still quite new to the business, as evidenced by her unsure line readings, yet scores big time in the heat department with hunky redhead Irish, wooden in both his acting (his best work was probably in Sam Weston's overlooked ADULTERY) and where it really counts. Personally, I could have done with a lot more of the sadly under-used Honey Wilder (unforgettable in Jeff Fairbanks' WILD DALLAS HONEY), a fate alas all too common for the industry's older women. Still, a terrific show for those not too easily offended by its outrageously callous treatment of a serious subject and willing to accept brother/sister incest as the happy go lucky fantasy fuel the makers consider it to be.
