Low rent Hong Kong actioner

HONG KONG THUG LIFE is a very low budget Hong Kong crime thriller with a starring role for Simon Yam, this time playing a bad guy rather than a cop. Yam begins the film by breaking out of a mental institute, before joining up with a gang of robbers and going on a rampage of violent havoc through the city, while the police close in. This rarely-seen film was watched on Amazon Prime, where it was accompanied by one of the worst American-accented dub jobs ever. Yam is entertainingly bad here, and the solid supporting cast includes the likes of Roy Cheung, Bowie Lam, Chin Kar Lok, and Jason Pai Piao. Sadly, the whole experience is let down by very poor direction, which renders the action bits laughable thanks to sloppy camerawork, and the bits in between the action rather dull. All of the actors would do plenty of sterling work elsewhere, so I can only recommend that you check the rest of their filmographies rather than bothering with this somewhat vapid cheapie.
