When DEA agent Parrish causes FBI agent Norwood to lose a known mobster they reluctantly joint forces to catch him again. However he is only one of three mobs that are being brought together by Thomas Livingston. When Livingston sends hitman Lawton after Norwood's friend, Norwood and Parrish decide to go after Livingston. With Lawton himself a target , he joins the two agents to bring down Livingston and stop the mobs working together.
This begins silly with FBI agent Norwood at the church waiting to marry a mob boss in what must have been a very good sting operation. This sets the tone for the rest of the film silly and dumb. None of the action is as good as it could be simply because none of it is ever credible. When the film tries to create drama through plot twists at the end, it doesn't work well because the script suddenly goes serious.
However it is pitched right for such a silly subject it is clearly made with it's tongue in cheek, which helps, and the cast seem happy to play it for laughs
.witness Parrish and Norwood laughing and falling in love as they jokingly shoot at each other feet or shoot each other on their vests! Who can take this type of stupidity seriously?!
Griffith is OK but he's more a clown here than an actor. Likewise Carrere is forced to just mess around although it feels like she's back mugging in Wayne's World. She is a sexy star and it's a shame that she can only get roles like this. Lithgow tries and fails to keep some form of dignity while all this is going on round him. Meanwhile Sutherland doesn't even try he is clearly just making fun of the film
.his performance is so absurd that he is obviously bemused by the idea of having this on his CV!
Overall the basic plot is OK, but the action, the dialogue and the performances are so silly that it's hard to take it seriously or to get into it at all. The only up side is that it is so silly at times that it is funny in an OTT type of way. But, lets be honest, this is pretty poor stuff.
