- The opening black and white sequence is rather dark and ominous compared to the light-hearted theme of the remainder of the film. In it, a young girl is shown playing in the forest. She comes upon a woodshed where an axe is buried in a stump. She hears spooky noises from inside the shed, then cautiously she opens the door. Nothing is ever revealed.
- This scene is referenced throughout the film as "something nasty in the woodshed," but for comic effect.
