The Christmas box office weekend is over, and now it's time to see just how the combined limited theatrical release and fast VOD debut of the unnecessarily controversial comedy The Interview fared. There have been plenty of numbskulls who believe that this whole scenario was somehow a publicity stunt by Sony Pictures to make more money off the film, but we're not even going to get into why that's absolutely moronic. But now the official numbers are in, and in theaters, the film rounded up about $2.8 million. But the real news is The Interview raked in $15 million from their VOD release that began Christmas Eve. The online haul will even be slightly bigger since The Interview only just became available on Apple's iTunes store on Sunday. It's undoubtedly the biggest digital release for Sony, but could this be a potential game changer for the industry that hasn't yet embraced the...

Wrapping up a year that has brought unimaginable frustration and heartbreak, Susan Powell's family marked the three-year anniversary of her disappearance at a ceremony this week near where her two sons are buried. "It's a hard time of year," Susan's father, Chuck Cox, tells People. "Our daughter's still missing. Someday, we will find out what happened to her." He added that he is not sure what to make of a West Valley City, Utah, police announcement Thursday that their investigation into Susan's Dec. 6, 2009 disappearance remains active but "has been scaled down," with a reduction in the number of full-time investigators working the case.

The Christmas box office showed signs of life Wednesday as Paramount's Mission: Impossible -- Ghost Protocol and Sony's The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo opened nationwide after three miserable weekends at the multiplex. Ghost Protocol was expected to lead the day with a gross in the $5 million-$6 million range, while Dragon Tattoo -- which is off to a strong start -- and Warner Bros.' Sherlock Holmes: A Game of Shadows were on course to gross $4.5 million-$5.5 million (some box office observers believe Ghost Protocol will do north of $6 million). The Christmas box office didn't exactly bring in stellar numbers for Hollywood, but, as predicted (by me, since you folks voted for 'True Grit' on Friday ) Little Fockers did wind up winning the box office with $34 million. True Grit followed it up with $25.6 million, with Tron: Legacy getting bumped to third in only its second week with $20.1 million. The Chronicles of Narnia: Voyage of the Dawn Treader ($10.8 million) and Yogi Bear ($8.8 million) rounded out the top five. But what about Gulliver's Travels, you ask? Not so great for the poorly reviewed, 3D Jack Black flick, since it finished in seventh place with a disappointing $7. 2 million. Little Fockers didn't exactly haul in the positive reviews either, as the third film in the Meet the Parents trilogy is currently showing a...
