In "A Day For Thanks on Walton's Mountain" in 1982, Ben and Cindy had two children, Virginia and Charlie. Cindy was pregnant with Charlie in "A Wedding on Walton's Mountain". In "Reunion" they were still mourning the death of Virginia...with no mention of Charlie at all!
In 'Mother's Day on Walton's Mountain,' Mary Ellen was told after her accident that getting pregnant would be dangerous to her health, and she and Jonesy had to come to terms with not having children. They now have two children, Katie and Clay, and no explanation is made as to whether medical advances made this possible, the children are adopted, or if Mary Ellen and Jonesy decided to risk it and she was fine during the first pregnancy so they had a second child together.
As they're listening to the news broadcast of the assassination , Verdie puts down everything she is holding on to but the broccoli , she is still holding it when she and Olivia leave the store .
John Walton goes into the woods and says that it has been 15 years since his father passed. In the previous storyline, his father passed in 1941 as evidenced by the gravestone. 15 years later would have been 1956.
When Janet gets the plates out of the cabinet for Thanksgiving dinner, she comments that they are mismatched. When everyone is seated at the table, everyone has a blue willow plate, except for Grandma, Jason and the empty place at the end. This is not a goof. When Elizabeth hands Janet the plates, Janet says some of them don't match. When the plates are on the table, some of them don't match the rest.
Late in the movie, there is a scene in which Jason shares the news that he sold a song to Elvis Presley, and that his wife is having another baby. Olivia remarks that she will get the baby some new blue suede shoes. However, the French subtitles read that she says she will get the baby an electric guitar.

At the TV studio, Janet calls John-Boy a "workaholic." The term did not come into being until 1968.
When John Sr. is sitting on the couch reading the newspaper, Erin walks in and he calls her "Mary." Mary McDonough plays the character of Erin.
John-Boy tells Janet that only members of his immediate family get away with calling him John-Boy. This is not true. Everyone who knew him growing up, from close friends like the Baldwin sisters, to distant relatives like Ike and Corabeth Godsey, to friends on the mountain like Yancey Tucker call him by his childhood name. The only people that call him John are people he introduced himself to starting in college and continuing professionally.
