Holmes refers to Winslow's car being "burglarized". An Englishman from 1899 would have used the term "burgled" instead.
When explaining to Doctor Winslow that his famous fictional exploits were based on fact, Sherlock Holmes tells her that his cases were "...rendered into over-dramatic narrative by an Irishman, named Conan Doyle." Holmes author Sir Arthur Conan Doyle was in fact Scottish.
