Average comedy by Jose Luis Cuerda about two starving drifters walk throughout the Spanish ways in 1492
ma-cortes3 December 2016
Bustling historical comedy film with several known actors , ridiculous moments and embarrassing situations . It is set in the summer of 1492 , when takes place the Jews expulsion ; after spending three years prisoner in Tunisia , Bartolome (Alfredo Landa) returns to his land Extremadura in Spain . Along the way he meets a deserter (Antonio Resines) who wants to go Portugal and is accompanied by a pig . Both of whom join forces and roam together , suffering starving , facing off several adventures , risks and enemies , such as ¨La Santa Hermandad¨ and mean bandits . At the same time they stop at Monasteries and brothels , where meet all kind of strange roles , as whores (Cayetana Guillen Cuervo) , a friar (Fernando Rey) expert on fornication , among others . At the end they arrive in the port of Palos where Colon accompanied by others sailors , three magnificent navigators : Martín Alonso Pinzón , Vicente Yáñez Pinzón and Juán De La Cosa aboard their boats : ¨La Pinta¨ , ¨Niña¨ and ¨Santamaría¨ . As Cólon and his seamen set off for America .

Uproaring comedy plenty of laughs , disconcerting incidents , nudism , bad taste and mayhem . This road movie contains an acute studio about two rogue men and showing the picaresque life by that time . A numerous cast plays a lot of characters headed by two great actors : Landa and Resines and several known secondaries . This is a disconcerting flick by Jose Luis Cuerda who also efficiently wrote/produced/directed and resulted to get an acceptable success at Spanish Box office . "La Marrana" is a Spanish film contribution to the commemoration of 500 anniversary of the discovery of America by Christopher Columbus and at the same time were shot other two films ¨1492¨ by Ridley Scott , and ¨Christopher Columbus: The Discovery¨. All of them were financed by State Society of fifth Centenary . Screenwriter , Director Jose Luis Cuerda tells his special humor in which blends life , religion , sex and surrealist incidents . Alfredo Landa gives a masterful acting , as usual , as the roguish person with the hope of eating their favorite food : sow . It Won ADIRCAE Award Best Actor Alfredo Landa , Goya Awards 1993 , Won Goya Best Lead Actor and Nominated Award of the Spanish Actors Union Filmb: Lead Performance Alfredo Landa . Support cast is frankly excellentb, such as Manuel Alexandre , Fernando Rey , Agustín González , Cayetana Guillén Cuervo , El Gran Wyoming , Antonio Gamero , Antonio Dechent . And several cameos as José Luis Cuerda , the cameraman Hans Burmann , Javier Artiñano and the producer Rafael Díaz-Salgado . Atmospheric musical score , mostly by violin . Evocative cinematography by Hans Burmann who was nominated Goya Best Cinematography , shot on location in Veruela, Vera de Moncayo, Zaragoza, Aragón .

The motion picture was regularly directed by José Luis Cuerda . Cuerda is a veteran professional , being his film debut ¨Pares and Nones¨ a typical Madrid comedy . He subsequently directed ¨El Bosque Animado¨ also with script by notorious Rafael Azcona and based on Wenceslao Fernandez Florez's novel . He followed directing failures as a drama titled ¨Viuda De Capitan Contreras¨ and more comedies as ¨La Marrana¨ and ¨Tocando Fondo¨ . His greatest success corresponds as producer , as he produced hits for Alejandro Amenabar as ¨Tesis¨ and ¨Abre Los Ojos¨, among others . His highly-acclaimed and successful movie was ¨Lengua De Mariposas¨ , it has a rating as better than average and is a beautiful and powerful film . His most personal movies were two comedies with a peculiar and surrealist sense of humor , this ¨Amanece Que no Es Poco¨ and the following titled ¨Asi en el Cielo Como en Tierra¨ but in anti-religion tendency .
