The seven hot women are the saving grace here
Red-Barracuda23 October 2010
Andy Sidaris movies are hard to differentiate. They all seem to follow the exact same template – action movies starring a host of playmates as ass-kicking special agents who are also not slow to remove their tops. Hard Hunted is more of the same. The success of the films in my eyes is always down to the women. The action movie element of the film is as rubbish as it always is in a Sidaris film. There's copious amounts of gun-play, fights and exploding helicopters but it's always very third rate thrills. In Hard Hunted the story revolves around the whereabouts of a small jade Buddha statuette that contains a nuclear trigger. The villain – played by Roger Moore's son – is after it and the babes try to prevent him from getting hold of it. And that's all you really need to know.

The girls are very nice to be fair. There are seven of them and they all find a reason to take their top off at some point. Every one of them is gorgeous to be perfectly honest but special mention should go to Ava Cadell and Becky Mullen, who play respectively, well, Ava and Becky. As a T&A film Hard Hunted is a success, as an action adventure it's completely lifeless.

Below-average Sidaris
gridoon17 August 2005
Deep down inside, Andy Sidaris has his heart in the right place. He is one of the few American directors who seem to like - and take seriously - the "gorgeous women in action roles" genre. Too bad he doesn't have the talent to back up his ideas. His three obsessions in "Hard Hunted" are girls, guns and various means of transportation: about half of this movie is taken up by BORING scenes of people travelling by plane, helicopter, car or boat. The whole film seems somehow lacking in energy, as if Sidaris and everyone else involved was simply going through the motions. The only real pleasure is seeing the beautiful Roberta Vasquez in action mode - she has more to do here than in "Do or Die". (*)

Hard going.
BA_Harrison6 September 2012
After the surprisingly entertaining Do or Die, Andy Sidaris slips back into mediocre mode for Hard Hunted, an unspectacular espionage/action tale that see his sexy federal agents from the Hawaiian paradise of Molokai tasked with recovering a nuclear weapons trigger hidden inside a small jade statuette.

There's a bit more to the plot than that, but let's be honest... you didn't come here to find out about the intricacies of the storyline, did you? What you want to know is if film delivers when it comes to cheesy action, big-breasted babes in skimpy outfits brandishing guns, and soft-core sex scenes.

The answer is that there is certainly lots of T&A on show, with series regulars Dona Speir, Roberta Vasquez, and Cynthia Brimhall all stopping for a spot of nookie amidst the gunfire and chases, but the action scenes are, for the most part, rather disappointing, with only Al Leong in his rocket-launching gyro-copter (which makes some seriously strange noises as it flies) providing the kind of dumb fun we've come to expect from a Sidaris movie.

4.5 out of 10, rounded up to 5 for IMDb.

"Hard Hunted," very hard, very hunted!
dancziraky22 March 2003
The seventh in Andy Sidaris' series of gorgeous gals-as-secret agents films, which by this point were being cranked out on a yearly basis. For some reason known only to writer/director Andy, Roger Moore's son Gregory (billed here as R.J. Moore for yet ANOTHER unknown reason) plays Kane, the ASIAN crimelord played by PAT MORITA in the previous entry ("Do or Die," 1991) in this series. Evil criminal mastermind Kane has stolen a nuclear trigger, an act of terrorism so despicable that it requires multiple, enormous-chested female federal agents to get naked as often as possible in an attempt to restore the balance of power! OK, the plot is negligible, as it's the gunplay, explosions, and softcore sex that are the proven formula of this series, and on those Andy delivers big-time. Look for the DVD release on March 25, 2003.

One purpose....
Kosh-1712 October 1999
This movie has only one purpose....To get women naked as often as possible. Not that I have a problem with that. Why bother trying to hide to main intent with a plot and acting. That stuff just gets in the way.

not the best of the series
movieman_kev15 October 2005
Seventh in the "Bullets & Babes" series, has Lil Sidaris taking the directorial efforts off his daddy's hands. However it seems he doesn't have the directorial expertise that his father had pretty much honed by the time and the film suffers from it. Yea all the ingredients are there in spades, but there's something missing in this installment and it just didn't seem as fun as previous ones in the series. The plot be it what it may, has the L.E.T.H.A.L. chicks dealing with a nuclear trigger and averting tragedy once again or some such silly thing. Plots Commantary; Behind the scenes featurettes on "Hard Hunted" & "Return to don't really matter in these films. I loathed the singing (yes singing) portions of the film.

Eye Candy: Cynthia Brimhall, Ava Cadell, Carolyn Liu, Becky Mullen, Mika Quintard, Dona Speir, Donna Hamilton, Roberta Vasquez all get topless

My Grade: D

DVD Extras: Introduction with Andy and Julie Strain; Director's Savage Beach"; Joe Bob Briggs Interview; footage of an all nude Julie Smith; Production Stills; Sndy Sidaris filmography; web-links; Theatrical Trailer; and Trailers for 11 other Sidaris films

Easter Egg: an extra 23 seconds of all nude Julie Smith can be found hidden in the third Trailers menu

All I have to say is that this is totally a guy movie!
kellyle6 March 2006
This flick is all T & A. With a small plot written in between these brainless Playboy Bunnys flashy skin shots. The acting is less than believable, terrible at times.. mostly the girls, but if you are a typical guy just watching all the naked boobies popping out all over the place you most likely wont notice. The scenery is all I really liked, being a girl and all. You might get a few lame'o lines to jokingly try out on your friends. You'd be safe stealing these lines because chances are your friends all chose another movie to watch when you saw this one. As far as 1 a.m. movies go this one is watchable, but I cant recommend it to anyone unless it is for a teenage boy. Spielburg doesn't have to worry about any competition though that is for sure.

perfect piece of crap

its the worst Hollywood movie i have ever seen.even TV serials are better than this.total waste of time and money. it hardly have any plot all the artists look dumb and foolish.each and every scene is like somebody is out for a practice shoot.in one scene Dona was sitting like she is not in the frame any more and the man with Dona 'ko' was caught in the gun fight at the same moment. the explosion's are like cardboard cutouts. most of the people in the movie looks like they are just completing the formalities.i found nothing interesting in this movie.even the sex scenes looks cheap and the timing don't make any sense. the villain Kane escape unhurt ed pretty conveniently.

WOW. THIS MOVIE CHANGED A NATION AND NOBODY REALIZES IT.
Bronco2216 November 1998
This movie introduces us, the american public, to a concept that will in the end rule the world, beautiful scantily clad women with guns that have sex with equally attractive men and fight terrorists in between. After I saw this fruity role up of genuine classiness, I said to myself... "self, that was a great movie, a movie that will have people talking for generations to come, a movie that will define a nation and break the hold of communism as we know it." And the silly goobers of America don't even realize this. I hope that this powerful nose goblin will change you to. -**1/2 stars

One of my fave Sidaris movies!
BandSAboutMovies16 May 2019
Warning: Spoilers
There's a new bad guy - Martin Kane, who is played by Geoffrey Moore, who is the son of Roger. Actually, I lied. He's supposed to be the same character played by Pat Morita in the last film! What is going on here!?!

Regardless of that craziness, Kane has smuggled a nuclear trigger out of China. The goal? Sell it to Middle East terrorists. And the very first undercover agent to try and get it back gets killed. Time to call Donna, Nicole and Edy. Time to take lots of showers. Time to make sweet, sweet love when not avoiding remote-controlled death devices.

All of your favorites show back up here. Beyond the girls mentioned above - Dona Speir, Roberta Vasquez and Cynthia Brimhall - Bruce Penhall is back as Bruce Christian and Michael Shane as Shane Abilene.

Rodrigo Obregon plays an evil operative named Pico who takes advantage of Donna after she gets amnesia. They go beard splitting on the beach while the rest of the team looks for her. But there's another baddie - Raven, who is played by everyone's favorite Asian henchman Al Leong - who gets his own lion's head blazer to go with Kane's lion's head boat. Raven also has an amazing helicopter that he uses to kill all manner of people. The bumbling dup pf bad guys - now named Wily and Coyote - also come back and yes, their weapons still come from Acme.

Another return is Ava Cadell, who is now a DJ/sex therapist who does her radio show from the hot tub. As you do. Also: the camera focuses mainly on her breasts, which makes sense, as they take out nearly the entire frame, decimating anything that comes near them by sheer force of gravity and will.

Geoffrey Moore isn't the only famous son here. Tony Peck, son of Gregory (and one-time husband of Cheryl Tiegs), plays Lucas.

To tell the truth, I kinda loved Hard Hunted. It's the same plot as nearly every single Andy Sidaris film, but for some reason, I've achieved nirvana - or Stockholm Syndrome - by watching every single one of them in one week.

The moral is: When you're trying to rescue a nuclear trigger hidden inside a jade statue, it's totally smart to just slow down and do squat thrusts in the cucumber patch with your fellow agent. Saving the world can wait. Making love in the sand can't.

T & A
thebushwacker3 October 2021
If you're lookin' for a T&A movie, this is the one for you.!! It's actually quite good at what it sets out to do. It's loaded with leapord skin bikinis, shiny red bikinis, shakin' booty, a radio station called SEXY, and all that good stuff. // My wife and I are sitting and laughing our ashes off at the ridiculousness of it all. I forget the plot because it's nothing but a porno movie, without the porno. LOL And to give it that James Bond feel the movie company rented a fancy power boat, and an exotic car! // It's written and directed by Andy Sedaris, and produced by his wife, Arlene Sedaris. // Andy Sedaris: The man who invented sports television's "honey shot"!! In a 2003 interview, Sidaris said, "I was the best television director that ever lived." This is pretty bold coming from a guy that directed about 10 episodes of someone else's stuff.

Moving fast (#7)
unbrokenmetal25 May 2008
Besides the landscapes and women, Sidaris' cinema is always a cinema of fast movement, too. Hardly surprising, since he won many prizes for TV sports reports before he specialized in armed babes! This time the best speedy scene is with a helicopter chasing a car. One agent is killed for a mysterious jade Buddha, but her colleague Donna Hamilton (Dona Speir) escapes with the artifact. Because she suffers from amnesia, she doesn't remember who the bad guys are, and then it is not even simply a good guys vs bad guys situation, but a third party of other baddies, led by a sinister looking Rodrigo Obregon (with a monstrous scar + eye patch!), makes it more complicated. One of the silliest story elements we were ever asked to believe during the Lethal Ladies series is the radio astrologist Ava (Ava Cadell) who transmits secret messages „coded" (uh-oh!) to the agents. Remember, telephones were invented long before 1992, and don't believe that if you work for a radio station, you could sit in a pool all day. What else sticks to my memory? Cringe-worthy dialogs ("There's nothing we can do till the morning." - "Even James Bond takes time off for sex!"), the beautiful background of the Pacific islands and the perfectly fitting, relaxing music, vocals by Cynthia Brimhall. This is the 7th out of my 12 reviews for the works of Andy Sidaris, in chronological order.

Did anyone notice...
chanvat7 January 2010
Warning: Spoilers
Jim Lampley in the scene in the board room? He is wearing 80s glasses and a bad fake mustache. Nice attempt at a disguise, but you can easily recognize his unique voice. He is not listed in the credits (not surprisingly).

As everyone else said, this film is a bad attempt at showing T&A through bad plot, slow scenes, and horrible, I repeat HORRIBLE singing sequences. The "singer" is more off key than I was at 16, ugh. I get the sense that this is a poor attempt at being like a Charlie's Angels type movie, with all the fancy planes, cars, etc and beautiful women, minus the action and acting. Bonus points for those that notice the ugly cow/leopard/tiger prints on the clothing and even briefcase! Such bad fashion sense.

Underrated gem
Prince Prospero21 March 2002
Well, this was the first Andy Sidaris movie I ever saw, and after seeing it I want more! This is a very underrated movie.. I can't see how anyone could dislike this one. Sure, the people who made this movie aren't big artists, but they know how to make a fun and entertaining movie.

I would compare this movie to the new Charlies Angels film, except this has 7 girls, and they all get naked! Theres lots of explosions and gunplay, sure, the lack of budget shows in them badly but that adds to the fun.

Although Dona Speir is top billed in the movie, Brimhall, Vasquez and Mullen are the hottest of the bunch. Oddly the only girl who is not so well endowed gets killed early in the film...

I would recommend Hard Hunted for everyone, at least to those who watch something like Temptation Island just to see boobies. This is much more fun than that, I promise.

Alarmingly bad! Alert your countrymen.
valdabyryn15 August 2005
This is the worst film I've seen yet. Despite the fact that some viewers are willing to cast aside plot and characters, and even trade them off for naked women, there is one thing about this film that cannot be over-looked.

There is a scene in which one of the women agents sneaks up on a guard to incapacitate him. The guard, an effeminate guy, stands posed with a tight camouflage shirt tucked into tight denim "hot pants." As the guard stands there trying to look oblivious, the agent makes tons of noise as she flips and rolls out of bushes and puts on her war face.

If you see this film, and you like it, keep in mind the fact that YOU have horrible, horrible tastes in film. And, that no matter how epic you think "Hard Hunted" is, it's still way, way down at the bottom of the bucket. Please keep this in mind, as you stagger and reel from this film's unfortunate effects - and rate accordingly.

Warning: Spoilers
Guys, This movie is amazing. I'll tell you why. When you see the cover, you know what to expect. A terrible action movie with tits. And it is like that. Actually we like it with the guys, because it is so bad. We bought already 3 movies, but the shop ran out of them. I know, anytime I'll see a new "episode" or call it "adventure" of the big-boobed-blonds...I will buy it. Those who like easy fun: a must see. This movie has significantly more erotic scenes than the other movies I saw. However, I should mention, that there is never more than tits in them. Those, who expect hard core porn, well this is not for you. Off course too serious people shouldn't watch it. For them it is waste of time/energy/money. Andy Sidaris Rulz!

If it ain't broke, don't fix it
pmtelefon26 October 2020
Writer/director Andy Sidaris had his formula and he did it well. He took some dreamy actresses with huge...talent and mixed them with a silly plot, unbelievable action and a couple jokes. Throw in some very nice locations and you have movie magic. I don't know where to rank "Hard Hunted" with the rest of Sidaris' filmography but it's as good a time killer as you can find. There's nothing wrong with a little harmless T&A fun once in a while.

Yuppy Movie
saint_brett4 November 2021
Warning: Spoilers
Tonight I'm watching Hard Hunted. Sounds like something Seagul, or the Bloodsport fella, would make.

Movie starts out with some young sleazebag on his private yacht, draped in semi clad lingerie models, lounging around sipping sea water as his crew poach for abalone.

The sleazeball's handed the secret of the ooze, or a piece of stonehedge from the Silver Shamrock factory, and claims he holds Mortal Kombat powers.

Nelly Furtado then breaks out into a TV commercial for Hawaiian island adventures.

Standing around with his Mortal Kombat powers, and nothing else to do, the young sleazebag orders some Chinese which comes served naked, while another two-timing entree laces his daiquiri with sleeping tablets. I take it she's going to steal the secret of the ooze? The two-timing exotic island beauty entree steals the ooze as predicted and now she's marked and on the run.

Making absolutely no sense, the movie then bounces around from Hawaii, to Arizona, cut to some sports illustrated models on holiday sunbathing, and now we're at The Pentagon with a bunch of Microsoft workers sitting around discussing kickbacks and home security mumbo-jumbo. As you do.

Unperturbed that the ooze has been stolen, the robed sleazebag is tipped off to the whereabouts of his lifeblood in Scotsdale.

The 2 sports illustrated models continue to splish splash while on vacation as the exotic two-timer entree is shot down in a blaze of gory and the secret of the ooze is then passed down to the sports illustrated models on holiday.

Unknowingly they smuggle the ooze back to Hawaii - advantage robed sleazeball.

Movie jumps around like an Atari leapfrog. Snitches backstab. Woeful actors try to bring humor to an already lame movie. The baddie in this is about as menacing as a ghost from Miss Pacman. (He gets away in the end minus his ooze.)

These people must have had a lot of time on their hands to be wasting it on hobbies like this.

How much more of this? Is there much to go?

So Judith Light is tasered like cattle, abducted, blows up a plane, free falls, and then placed into a makeshift coffin, made out of plywood, and flown off to nowhere to meet Kano?

Meanwhile two strangers, who aren't even relevant to the storyline, make love. Am I supposed to pretend that I don't notice all the D-cup cleavage in these Sidaris movies? Who are the real stars of these movies? If you've seen one Sidaris movie, you've seen 'em all.

I lost interest in this back at the 50-minute mark. It just drags on. What was a one hour and 34 minute movie could have been condensed into an hour movie. They just dragged it out and of course they just had to squeeze in a few sex scenes at the end where we see horrible actors exploring each others augmented bodies in a sensual manner for all the perverts and creeps out there.

Glad this director no longer makes film anymore.

Pretty straight forward Sidaris cheese...
paul_haakonsen14 July 2022
Having sat through a handful of Andy Sidaris movies, the tour let me to the 1993 action movie "Hard Hunted". And I figured that I would be in for the same thing here as I had with all the previous movies, so I wasn't harboring much hopes beyond of what writer and director Andy Sidaris had delivered previously.

I actually do believe I have seen "Hard Hunted" back in the mid-1990s, as I do remember the movie's cover from a VHS tape, though I have to say that I had fully forgotten about the movie. And now having sat through it, the only thing that rang a bell in my memory was Al Leong wearing that Japanese headband and flying around in that one man gyrocopter.

Writers Andy Sidaris and David Avallone managed to churn out another movie of the ilk that Andy Sidaris had been doing repeatedly since the early 1980s, for better or worse. So if you have seen any of the movies that came before "Hard Hunted", then you know what you are in for here, as they followed that very same blueprint and recipe.

The acting performances in "Hard Hunted" were fair enough, taking into consideration the type of movie that it is. However, I will say that the return of some cast members from previous movies is good, as it gives the movie a sense of continuation. However, I just don't understand why they opted to hire Al Leong again, as he was in a previous movie already and killed off. But then again, it wasn't the first time that they re-hired an actor for a different role in this movie series.

And I do love the fact that no matter how many rockets Raven (played by Al Leong) fired from his gyrocopter, then every scene always showed four rockets mounted on it.

"Hard Hunted" is definitely a watchable enough movie, having a good amount of action to it and a decent enough storyline actually, if you can live with the nudity and cringeworthy lovemaking scenes.

My rating of director Andy Sidaris' 1993 action movie "Hard Hunted" lands on a five out of ten stars.

A Criminal Mastermind Determined to Retrieve a Stolen Artifact
Uriah4317 November 2022
This film essentially picks up where its predecessor "Do or Die" left off with the criminal mastermind named "Kane" (played now by Geoffrey Moore) obtaining an extremely valuable jade Buddha and putting the artifact in the safe on board his yacht. Little does he know that his mistress "Silk" (Carolyn Liu) has been coerced to switch sides and is now working for the American government. Likewise, another attractive playmate on board by the name of "Mika" (Mika Quintard) is also working for the federal government and, with the assistance of Silk, manages to steal the jade artifact and bring it to her colleagues in Hawaii. Unfortunately, she is killed in the process which leaves both "Donna Hamilton" (Dona Speir) and "Nicole Justin" (Roberta Vasquez) as the prime targets for Kane's wrath--and he will stop at nothing to get his prized possession back. Now, rather than reveal any more, I will just say that this movie started off rather well but seemed to lose its momentum about halfway through and never really recovered after that. Even so, it still wasn't a terribly bad action film necessarily and I have rated it accordingly. Slightly below average.

More Andy Sidaris fun
Woodyanders23 June 2011
Warning: Spoilers
Cunning criminal mastermind Kane (smoothly played by Geoffrey Moore) gets his wicked hands on a nuclear trigger that puts the whole world in jeopardy. It's up to an elite team of government agents to retrieve said trigger and take Kane down in the process. Writer/director Andy Sidaris hits the bull's eye once again with this merry celluloid ode to the blithely adolescent joys of raging testosterone: The oodles of yummy gratuitous female nudity, big splashy explosions, ineptly staged action set pieces, a goodly amount of bloody violence, several scorching soft-core sex scenes, and an amusing sense of campy humor all add up to one highly entertaining affair. The usual bevy of beautiful babes keeps things humming throughout, with especially stand-out contributions from busty blonde Dona Speir as the feisty Donna Hamilton, ravishing brunette Roberta Vasquez as Donna's equally tough partner Nicole Justin, the incredibly gorgeous Cynthia Brimhall as sassy and enticing singer Edy Stark (Cynthia belts out an infectiously jaunty Jimmy Buffett-style trop-rock tune this time), lovely Ava Cadell as sultry-voiced disc jockey Ava, and slinky minx Carolyn Liu as Kane's duplicitous assistant Silk. The rest of the cast likewise have fun with the cheerfully silly material: Bruce Penhall as the hunky Bruce Christian, Tony Beck as the dashing Luca, Rodrigo Obregon as suavely evil smuggler Pico, Michael J. Shane as amiable klutz Shane Abilene, and, best of all, ubiquitous action movie Fu Manchu dude Al Leong as lethal assassin Raven. Mark Morris' sharp cinematography gives the picture a pleasing bright look. Richard Lyons' cool rocking syncopated score does the stirring trick. An enjoyable romp.

The Sidaris touch
lor_3 August 2023
My review was written in July 1992 after watching the film at the Planet Hollywood screening room in Midtown Manhattan.

One of the better entries in the "Malibu Express" series of action films, "Hard Hunted" is a quality mix of stunts and T&A. Opening in Arizona where it was partially filmed, pic should score in pay-cable and video. Filmmaking team of writer-director Andy Sidaris and producer Arlene Sidaris have created a brand name with seven features concerning a team of Hawaii-based female secret agents. First of these, "Malibu Express" with Sybil Danning, has been playing almost continuously for seven years on pay-cable.

"Hard Hunted" benefits from return appearances by most of the actors from earlier films in the series, including star Dona Speir in her sixth straight assignment. Partnered once again with Roberta Vasquez, she's thrust into this adventure while on vacation in Arizona.

The duo becomes unwitting pawns in villain R. J. Moore's quest to retrieve a jade Buddha containing a device that's used in atomic bombs, stolen from a Chinese lab.

The feds supporting the women are summoned to Hawaii to battle Moore, but the film ends in a stand-off with protagonists to settle the score in the next film in the series, "Fit to Kill".

Not withstanding some campy dialogue and Sidaris' trademark gratuitous nude scenes featuring lovely models, "Hard Hunted" develops a more serious tone than its predecessor films.

Particularly engrossing is the first reel or so in which newcomer Mika Quintard teams with stunning Carolyn Liu (introduced in the last film ("Do or Die") to steal the jade Buddha in action-packed suspenseful footage.

Other highlights include well-staged stunts involving a miniature attack helicopter manned by Moore's chief henchman, Al Leong, familiar as one of Brandon Lee's most imposing adversaries in the current release "Rapid Fire".

While initially used as alluring decoration, the women in Sidaris films are now quite convincing as action heroines, with both leads Speir and Vasquez solid in this department.

Roger Moore's son R. J. Moore makes a suave villain in his American feature debut, while Gregory Peck's son Tony is also in the cast as head good guy.

Filmin on numerous sites in Hawaii, Arizona and California belies the pic's modest budget.

Believe it or not, this is meant to be a separate movie from Do or Die.
dave13-111 April 2012
Of course, you could pretty much take any other Andy Sidaris movie, cut it apart, move around the generic chases, gun fights and explosions, add a few minutes of explanatory dialogue and presto! A sequel. This is pretty much how I felt about this follow-up to Do Or Die. It's really the same movie, except here Cynthia, Dona and Roberta wear slightly different outfits (which they strip off just as frequently), and are now hunting the bad guys rather than being themselves hunted. This time around, the minions of crime kingpin Kane (no longer played by Pat Morita, who was busy making better movies) are trying to deliver a nuclear trigger to terrorists, or some such nonsense. I forget and anyway who watches these things for the story lines?

It's all tedious crap, of course, but then every Sidaris movie plays like a low rent T&A version of Chips or some other bad 70s TV action show, but with worse acting and dialogue, and shoddier action sequences and explosion effects. Nevertheless, he knows what his audience wants: bouncy Playmates showing off a lot of skin while shooting it out with bad guys, and he delivers the goods. You have to give the guy credit for truth in advertising if nothing else.
