An incredible symbolic quasi-horror
skatologia19 July 2005
This movie is really great - postmodernistic, ironic, symbolic. It DOES NOT suggest any serious philosophical and metaphysical issues, so people should not interpret it as such, but simply enjoy very light directorial and acting style. The film is a Parody, an Irony, that refers more to different signifiers, rather than signified - it ponders not the nature of reality of werewolves, but the genre of storytelling, whether in literature or in cinema. In some respect "Lyumi" could be compared to Wes Craven's "Scream" - more an anthology, a reference. It is more funny, than it is scary, which is partially due to acting, which seems more theatrical, too exaggerated for cinema.

" The Red Cap " Charles Pero
Very terrible film. In a basis a plot " The Red Cap " Charles Pero. In a wood beside Baltic settlement there is something by name Lyumi. Whether it is the maniac, whether the werewolf. Very high growth, in a raincoat closing the person. At this time parents send the daughter through a wood on a visit to the grandmother... The Russian horrors films are very terrible. There are very strong psychological pressure in them . Russians trust in mysticism. In this film attempt to assume, that a fairy tale about "The Red Cap" is not a fairy tale and all this was actually. The director assumes, that actually it not the wolf but something not clear essence. Which has lived up to our days.
