There’s nothing worse in this world than the rat race.
I bet when you learned there was a sequel to last year’s The Cult Of That Wilkin Boy, a story about the cult-like fandom surrounding a massive pop star, you probably weren’t envisioning an Office Space-type story to be at the heart of its sequel. Okay, that’s not entirely accurate, either, but there are definitely some points made about the literal soul-sucking nature of paperwork, legal red tape, and working for the man.
Office Space itself might not be a horror movie, but so many of us can relate to the horrors of the rigamarole of working life. Of cubicles, deadlines, pesky co-workers, the onslaught of emails—sure, it may all sound like very first-world, 21st-century problems, but they’re ubiquitous enough that so many can relate. It’s not just that work sucks, it...

The baffling phrase on the lips of every TV fan is suddenly “Baby Reindeer” — and for good reason. The Netflix limited series premiered on April 11 and quickly skyrocketed into the Top 10 in several countries, including the U.S. and U.K.
The series stars creator and writer Richard Gadd as an extension of his one-man Edinburgh Fringe show from 2016. In the TV version, Gadd plays a fictionalized version of himself named Donny Dunn, who is harassed by a female stalker for years while disentangling the ordeal from a sexual assault years prior. It evokes the transfixing storytelling and precision of “Fleabag” (another Fringe darling) and “I May Destroy You” (another complex piece processing sexual assault and subsequent self destruction). The title “Baby Reindeer” references a bizarre nickname he receives from stalker Martha (Jessica Gunning) — among many others.
So why is everyone talking about “Baby Reindeer?” On the surface, the series...

It seems Disney and Ludo Studios have one more trick up their sleeve. Everyone thought the 28-minute “The Sign” special was the final “Bluey” episode before the studio put it on hiatus. But now, one more episode, “Surprise,” will debut tomorrow, April 21.
Disney+ will start streaming “Surprise” at 12 Am Pst / 3 Am Est. Disney Junior will air the episode at 7 Am Pst / 10 Am Est and on the Disney Channel at 7:30 Am Pst / 10:30 Am Est.
The new episode synopsis reads:
“Bluey and Bingo want Dad to play two different games, so Dad tries to play both at the same time.”
The Hollywood Reporter said that creator Joe Brumm told them that ““Surprise” ensures that “The Sign” isn’t the last episode of the series.”

Following their scary good Archie Comics collaboration last year, Cullen Bunn and Dan Schoening are reteaming to continue growing The Cult of That Wilkin Boy with the new one-shot Initiation, and ahead its April 24th release from Archie Comics, we have an exclusive preview to share with Daily Dead readers!
Now working in the music industry as a cunning manager, Bingo convinces musicians to swap their souls for stardom in our exclusive preview below, and here's what artist Dan Schoening had to say about continuing Bingo's hellish story:
"It's such an honor to come back and tell more of Bingo's story with such an amazingly talented team of creatives. This follow-up feels like a natural progression of a rock star that sold his soul for fame and fortune, and all the sacrifice that comes along with it. This time however, the stakes are much higher, and the scale of terror is much bigger in scope.

Bingo, a game of fate which inherently relies on the united excitement of a fortunate number to be called and an atmosphere of shared expectancy, has been one of the peculiar symbols of the British nation, present for many of the recent decades. The first chapter of its journey was in the UK, and it went through many remarkable transformations. Brick-and-mortar halls used to be a typical venue for bingo that emanate the comforting smell of bingo chips and the rhythm of dabbers on paper cards, but it made way for the vibrant clicks and friendly chats of the online version. It shows that the evolution is not merely that of the technology landscape, but rather of the way people communicate and enjoy themselves.
The history of bingo in the UK can be traced back to early 1900s, though the amount of popularity it started gaining was during the 1960s...

Edward Bond, the Oscar-nominated Blow-Up screenwriter and playwright whose Saved and Early Morning were banned in the UK, fueling a legal review that led to the end of stage censorship in the country, has died, his agency said. He was 89.
Casarotto Ramsay and Associates said he died Sunday but did not reveal the cause.
“Edward was one of the greatest dramatists of the 20th century,” the agency tweeted. “He made his mark upon the theatrical world with radical, thought-provoking, and unerringly original work.”
Bond’s first screenplay was the English-language dialogue for Blow-Up, Michelangelo Antonioni’s 1966 classic that starred David Hemming and Vanessa Redgrave. Earning him an Original Screenplay Oscar nom, it was the first of about a dozen film credits including Walkabout (1971) and Laughter in the Dark (1968).

Normally this is the part where we take you on a brief temperature check on—if not philosophical flight of fancy over—the state of the movie industry and how that will factor into what’s occupying most of the real estate in Oscar voters’ heads. We usually delve into why in fact the whole annual spectacle serves just about anything but the purported task of rewarding the previous year’s best cinematic work. How does Parasite represent the best-case scenario for a more international AMPAS? Does Tár surgically unpack our anxieties about representation, or does it just exploit them? Why Green Book, why now? But seeing how Mark Harris, in this weekend’s New York Times, pretty thoroughly wrapped up that legwork this go-around, and recognizing that there’s only so many angles we can take to argue the functional utility that Oppenheimer has market-cornered in this year’s race,...

It’s almost time for a second emotional goodbye to one of comedy’s best characters: Sheldon Cooper.
Fans fell in love with the character of Sheldon on The Big Bang Theory, which ran for 12 years and starred Jim Parsons. In the spinoff prequel Young Sheldon, Parsons passed down the torch to Iain Armitage. However, Parsons still narrates the series as adult Sheldon and executive produces.
Young Sheldon allows audiences to travel back to Sheldon’s childhood in East Texas, truly giving us the opportunity to meet his family in a way that we hadn’t with their appearances on The Big Bang Theory. Sheldon wouldn’t be who he is without Mary (Zoe Perry), George Sr. (Lance Barber), Missy (Raegan Revord), Georgie (Montana Jordan), and his Meemaw (Annie Potts).

Another Russell Crowe and Liam Hemsworth collaboration was not a square on our 2024 pop culture Bingo card, yet it looks like we're about to check it off. Moviegoers are due to see the pair of Aussies team up for the second time in as many years in February's military action thriller "Land of Bad." The pair recently co-starred in the 2022 movie "Poker Face" (no relation to the TV show of the same name), a thriller about a high stakes poker game gone wrong that was directed by Crowe himself.
This time around it's not a card game that goes wrong, but a mission. "Land of Bad" follows a group of military men on an extraction assignment in the Philippines that takes a bloody turn, leaving one young officer at the mercy of the elements and local militia. Fortunately, he's not alone: he's got Russell Crowe's drone pilot droning in his ear,...

A "Suits" comeback wasn't on anyone's 2023 Bingo card, yet it was a huge year for the USA Network lawyer series. When the show dropped on Netflix last June, it became one of the streamers' biggest hits, reportedly accruing 3 billion minutes watched every week for much of the summer. The series' creator, Aaron Korsh, suspected its resurgence had something to do with the show's relatability and "inherent optimism," as he told The Hollywood Reporter in August 2023. But the show's cast could have also had something to do with it: future ex-royal Meghan Markle starred in the legal procedural for its first seven seasons alongside leading men Patrick J. Adams and Gabriel Macht.
When "Suits" started, USA Network seemed to have already established a pretty standard formula for success: cast hot people, write fast-paced scripts, and keep storylines adventurous. It worked for shows like "Burn Notice" and "Psych," and given the longevity of "Suits,...

A "bizarre dance sequence" could be a square in a game of Yorgos Lanthimos-themed Bingo. When I watched "Poor Things" (screenplay by Tony McNamara) at the New York Film Festival, the film's contender for Greatest Guffaws occurred when the free-spirited Bella Beatrix (Emma Stone), a Frankensteinesque reanimated woman, bounces onto the ballroom floor with abandon. Her rakish paramour Duncan Wedderburn (a hilarious Mark Ruffalo) joins in and marvels at her untamable spirit, though she would end up burning out his patience later. Living in a steampunk Victorian setting of futurism and antiquity, Bella's dance is her proverbial middle finger to restrictive "polite society."
Weird dancing — or odd choreography — is a vital ingredient to Lanthimos' directorial idiosyncrasies, given that dance is an extension of power, control, or conformity. His early 2005 "Kinetta" engages in a litany of sloppy homicide reenactments, and several of his films followed up with his signature "weird dances.

In Hollywood, the spotlight is often reserved for the latest blockbusters and star-studded casts, so there’s always something truly refreshing about a movie that dares to be different. And that’s precisely what actress-turned-director Robin Wright is set to deliver with her upcoming directorial venture, Bingo.
A Modern Twist on a Timeless Theme
Looking at the film’s title, one would have assumed it has something to do with playing bingo games like these, but that is so not the case. It is, in fact, a story about the unexpected twists and turns that life can take, much like this game of chance.
At the Karlovy Vary Film Festival, Wright spilt the beans about her exciting new project, and it’s creating quite a buzz. Bingo promises to be a delightful and modernised take on the classic theme of May-December romance. For those not in the know, that’s...

Jaime Camil is fulfilling a longtime dream of bringing a beloved Mexican game to American audiences. He will host and executive produce the upcoming new CBS series Lotería Loca, premiering Monday, Oct. 2 at 9 p.m.
“Lotería has been around for around 400 years and it’s played by 40 million people every day. It’s a ‘must have’ game for many Latin American families. It’s like Bingo and we’ve changed it up a little for television purposes,” Camil tells Deadline. An exclusive look at how the TV version will be played can be found in the video above.
He continued, “We made some adjustments and now it’s more like Bingo but without forgetting the heritage of the [original game]. We also made the characters on the cards fun and animated; they come alive. Each card also has a monetary value, which is different from the original game.”

Warning: contains spoilers for Sex Education seasons 1-4
The first series of Netflix teen drama Sex Education came out so long ago – in January 2019, pre-Covid, aka The Before Times – that it’s hard to remember a baby Otis and Eric turning up at their first day of sixth form. But even on day one, Ncuti Gatwa as Eric foreshadowed just how big a journey the characters would go on throughout the show’s four series, telling Otis (Asa Butterfield): “We shall transform from lowly caterpillars into… awesome killer whales?”
Back then, Eric was one of the only two gay people in his year, and he was constantly bullied, literally being pushed up against the lockers and called a “f**” in the first episode, as if the show was trying to win a full house in Stereotypical High School Drama Bingo. Later in the series, he’s the victim of a drive-by gay bashing,...

Featuring new segments made by the horror filmmakers: Mike P. Nelson, Natasha Kermani, Gigi Saul Guerrero, Scott Derrickson, David Bruckner. The Tron-themed one looks bonkers. In the vast world of anime and manga, characters play a pivotal role in shaping the narrative. While protagonists often take the spotlight, there are characters like Kakashi Hatake from “Naruto” who leave an indelible mark despite not being the central figure. Let’s delve into Kakashi’s personality, development, and significance, unravelling the layers of this enigmatic ninja.
Personality and Enigma:
Kakashi’s persona blends mystery, composure, and sometimes the trademark Naruto-style comedy, often concealed by his ever-present face-covering headband. His tranquil façade belies a mind forged in the fires of experience and hardship. Kakashi’s wry sense of humour and calm demeanour shroud the intricate layers of his character. But beneath that calm exterior lies a vivid tapestry of emotions, fears, and motivations waiting to be explored.
Development and Backstory:

While it was one of the most popular games in the UK during the 1970s and 80s, the cultural significance of bingo varies according to where you are on the globe. In some countries, it was used largely as a teaching tool, and in others, it’s very much associated with certain types of players.
It is these stereotypes and tropes that are often played on when bingo is shown on the silver screen or portrayed in television shows. This has led to some of the best scenes from some of the best-known movies, including:
Cocoon
As a classic of its time, Cocoon followed the story of a retirement community that has been infiltrated by aliens that are giving the residents a new lease on life. The protagonists, Joe, Ben, and Arthur, are swimming in the pool one day when they come across alien lifeforms that harbour the power to rejuvenate themselves.

Robin Wright will direct Patricia Clarkson in a new film, “Bingo,” which shares some DNA with the cult classic “Harold and Maude,” she told Variety Friday at the Karlovy Vary Film Festival, where both Wright and Clarkson are guests.

One thing “Bingo” won’t feature is the dark center that “Harold and Maude,” the 1971 Hal Ashby comedy, featured, said Wright. “Bingo” is written by Annakate Chappell, who is represented by Adam Riback at Echo Lake Entertainment.

If you have seen BBC One’s Rain Dogs, it will be easier for you to understand this comedy-drama that revolves around a woman who is trying to get by in life. She is middle-aged and single; she has just lost her mom, and the world is very harsh. It is an exploration of life and its ups and downs, or to be more appropriate, its highs and lows. Padma Lakshmi Says It’s ‘Sweeter’ To Be Featured In Sports Illustrated’s Swimsuit Edition In Her 50s
Padma Lakshmi is among the models in the 2023 edition of Sports Illustrated‘s annual Swimsuit Edition.
For the 52-year-old “Top Chef” host, modelling skimpy bikinis alongside models half her age isn’t something she had on her 2023 Bingo card.
“I really thought that the Sports Illustrated ship had sailed for me, or the possibility of it, and I’d never done it before,” she told the magazine., admitting the experience was “sweeter” now than it would have been when she was in her 20s.

Warning: This contains spoilers for all series of Taskmaster, including Series 15
Series 15 of Taskmaster has been delightfully ruthless already. So far we’ve had Ivor Graham sabotaging Kiell Smith-Bynoe in the first Live task and Greg Davies letting all the contestants get away with touching things in a task that said “you must not touch anything at any point”.
Then, in episode 4, the show joyously almost descended into full anarchy both over the definition of “throwing” and what a banana is (more on this later).
We suspect Taskmaster fans will be arguing over #throwgate for a while, but it’s not the first controversial decision to go down in the show’s history. In fact, for many, the mere mention of the words “potato”, “hula hoop” and “Mark Watson” are enough to trigger an epic Taskmaster rant to this day. Let’s take a look back at some of the show’s most questionable rulings.

At the height of The Office's run on Netflix, a Bustle article exploring why people are rewatching the Office posited that people sometimes need to turn their brains off with comfort viewing. The psychological benefits can be enough to get people out of suicidal-level despair.
I tend to think that every time we plop down in front of a TV after a hard day, we're all confronted with a choice of whether we want comfort or to be challenged and moved at a more rewarding level.
But with Night Court -- purest vanilla comfort food there's ever been -- there's an art to doing mindless popcorn comedy.
This show will never be a great comedy at a dialogue level because the jokes are too rapid-fire.

"One, two, three, four, five, six, seven, eight. Schlemiel! Schlimazel! Hasenpfeffer Incorporated!" These are the immortal words that begin the song "Making Our Dreams Come True," the catchy tune used as the theme song of the popular series, "Laverne & Shirley." Cindy Williams, the actress who played the perky and positive albeit meek Shirley Feeney, has sadly joined her co-star Penny Marshall, passing away at the age of 75. Williams' children Zak and Emily Hudson confirmed the passing with the Associated Press following a brief illness.
"The passing of our kind, hilarious mother, Cindy Williams, has brought us insurmountable sadness that could never truly be expressed," the statement said. "Knowing and loving her has been our joy and privilege. She was one of a kind, beautiful, generous, and possessed a brilliant sense of humor and a glittering spirit that everyone loved." Bollywood actress Kiara Advani, who is set to appear in the upcoming episode of the Karan Johar hosted chat show, ‘Koffee With Karan’ along with actor Shahid Kapoor, once bitch-slapped her ‘Kabir Singh’ co-star Shahid Kapoor in her head.
In an interesting Bingo game, Kiara revealed why she bitch-slapped Shahid Kapoor in her head. “It was my third or fourth day of shooting, and I was made to wait for eight hours because there was discussion of what shoes Shahid would wear in the next scene,” Kiara said.
Karan immediately validated her decision to bitch-slap Shahid and said, “If I were made to wait for eight hours for a discussion on shoes, I would bitchslap too.”
The new episode will see sizzling conversations around love, family, marriage and the Bollywood grandeur as Kiara and Shahid bring their honest, candid side to the couch.
