  Sheriff Gaines : You mean like this thing which killed my partner you mean is intelligent?

  Lem : Yes.

  Sheriff Gaines : Well why doesn't somebody reason with it, can't you control it, it's got to be stopped.

  Lem : It's experimental, it has a mind that can reason but it's never been right emotionally.

  Sheriff Gaines : What do you mean?

  Lem : It's disturbed. Insane

  Sheriff Gaines : There's got to be some kind of pattern to this things actions.

  Lem : It's after a dog.

  Sheriff Gaines : A dog?

  Lem : A golden retriever, there was another experiment, like the creature it has some human genetic material it's almost human in its intelligence, almost.

  Sheriff Gaines : You bastards. Goddamned government thinks it can do any goddamn thing it likes. Is that all there is huh? these two animals, when we catch them it's going to be over?

  Lem : Sure Walt, everybody 'ill stop making weapons, then there'll be peace on Earth.

  [the sheriff starts to walk away] 

  Lem : Walt

  Sheriff Gaines : What?
