A classic

Jericó is probably the best Venezuelan movie ever made. It was very well written and directed, and it shows probably the most traumatic period in the history of the New Continent.

The only thing that kept this movie for being perfect is the fact that the budget was so low that the director couldn't do the epic sequences required for these kinds of movies; sequences that could show the carnage of the first battles between conquistadors and aborigines.

But when you make a balance, the way that the movie show the evolution of the character Father Santiago, make everything worth it. Not to mention the incredible acting of Cosme Cortázar in the role.

Definitely a must see...

Excellent indeed

I saw this movie in the 90s and a few days ago I found it in DVD. I had a very very good time watching it again and for sure is a must. Three of the actors died years ago (Cosme Cortazar - Alexander Milic - Luis Pardi)God be with them, is a great lost. The movie, the music, the direction etc. was superb. Hope you all can see it. I gave 10 /10. The location where this movie was filmed was in Estado Monagas - at the east of Venezuela. And the indians you see in the movie are real, they are the "Kariñas" who lived in that area for centurys. The photography is great, and the scenes where Father Santiago is taken by force and drug inside of a cave were filmed in "Cueva del Guacharo" also located in Estado Monagas at the entry of the cave called "Salón de Humboldt". Is a pity the budget was so little, if not we will enjoy the missing scenes of the battle between spaniards and indians. Hope that all those funs of good movies, see it.

Don't waste your time!

To begin with, I never imagined Spaniards could talk Spanish with a Venzuelan accent, but there's something more, they talk a nowadays Spanish!Wow, that's just weird!About the music, well, what can I tell you? Maybe this music was "in" in the Spanish movies of the seventies, but today, to tell you the truth, I wouldn't give a cent for it, because I dare to say that even in the 70s this would have been not a music you would stand for more than ten minutes. Just to wish you good luck and patience if you want to see it, you'd regret it for sure, but that's up to you.
