The movie is a modern variation of the The Invisible Man (1933). The main movie poster was reflective of this type of ''invisible man'' movie.
Show-business trade-paper predicted the picture would "prove similarly invisible at the box-office" in their edition published on 18th April 1986.
The movie's title evoke the earlier science-fiction picture The Invisible Boy (1957) from about thirty years earlier even though the two films are different and unrelated.
