When I was a growing up, a teenager who lived at the local video store renting anything and everything that caught my eye (thanks to my mother giving the shop permission to rent me 18-rated titles), there was one film whose trailer seemed to be appear on nearly all the films I rented… Zombie High. Now, at the time, Zombie High was the One film I wanted to see that my local video shop never had available to rent. But all was not lost, thanks to the local Co-op bizarrely getting in a spinner rack of horror films for Halloween (and the following Christmas) I finally tracked down a copy all of my own!

I said that last week’s episode of iZombie was a bit of a structural mess but it was entertaining regardless. This week, however, I can’t say the same as this feels like a filler episode. It seems to drag to the point where it’s uncertain how the show is going to have so many plot threats pay off by the finale which is three weeks away.
In this episode, Liv eats the brain of a renegade cop which means get ready for a few Die Hard puns which is typical iZombie humour. The good thing about the show’s humour is that it is incredibly self-aware and meta but this episode is more style than substance so it makes the bad parts of this episode more apparent.

Um, okay iZombie Fanatics. Let's get this out of the way.
iZombie Season 4 Episode 10 was a colossally dull hour. It was as aggravating as it was wearisome, and that is not what I expect when there are only three installments left of the season.
iZombie's ability to string fans along episode by episode while simultaneously making fans forget that they have a shortened season is a blessing and a curse. Here, it's a curse, because, with so little of the season remaining, I don't know what to expect by the finale.
The biggest issue is that the concept of this season was ambitious and bold. The possibilities were endless. There were so many directions the series could go into; the show hit a reset button.
It was highly-anticipated, and maybe the bar was set too high along the way. I don't know. What I do know is that there are...

This review contains spoilers.
2.10 Method Head
iZombie is back in the Us with its midseason premiere, and boy did it get meta. Much of the action revolved around a murder on the set of "Zombie High," an in-universe TV series with a plot you can probably guess. The resulting jokes and references resulted in an enjoyable hour of television.
TV shows tend to do a good job when writing about TV shows. After all, its a subject close to home, one writers know well enough to both poke fun at and recreate with enough realistic elements to ground any fantastical or farcical elements. This was the case with Method Head, which took place largely on the set of "Zombie High."
Though the murder wasn't particularly compelling, the investigation was the...

High schools have seen their share of monsters in the movies, be they werewolves (Teen Wolf, I Was a Teenage Werewolf, Ginger Snaps), vampires (Twilight, My Best Friend is a Vampire), aliens (The Faculty), or just your average, garden-shear variety slasher (Prom Night, Scream, etc.). You might think that the 1987 horror film Zombie High attempts to bring the undead to the high school hallway. You would be wrong. For proof, check out Scream Factory’s new Blu-ray of Zombie High, which isn’t really a zombie movie and is barely even a horror film.

What would you look like if you walked onto the set of your favorite TV show? Probably a lot like Liv does in these photos from iZombie‘s winter premiere. In the pictures below from the episode, which is titled “Method Head,” Liv heads to the set of her number one show, Zombie High, after its main star has been killed, and even though the description for the hour says that she’s “crushed” by the news, it seems that meeting the rest of the cast certainly perks her up. However, what’s most interesting about these photos is that Liv appears to be back

December 15th is definitely a great day to be a cult film fan as we’ve got a bunch of stellar titles making their home entertainment bows this week. Scream Factory is releasing several films on Blu this Tuesday—The Car, Zombie High and the double feature of The Dungeonmaster and Eliminators—and Arrow Video is keeping busy as well with their special editions of both Blood Rage and What Have You Done to Solange?
Other notable titles include The Last Horror Film, Count Dracula, The Toxic Avenger Collection, a double feature of Axe and Kidnapped Coed as well as the most recent iteration of Fantastic Four.
The Car (Scream Factory, Blu-ray)
The peaceful tranquility of a small Western town is disturbed when a murderous car wreaks havoc by viciously mowing down innocent victims. The new sheriff, Wade Parent (James Brolin), may be the only one who can stop this menace in its tracks.

Eerie boarding school students, a wicked wizard, and a vengeance-seeking mandroid will be released on home media next Tuesday from Scream Factory. Ahead of the respective Blu-ray debuts of Zombie High and The Dungeonmaster / Eliminators double feature, we have high-def clips and trailers from the films.
Zombie High Blu-ray: "I used to be normal…happy…well-adjusted…but that was before… On December 15, 2015, Scream Factory proudly presents Zombie High in a Blu-ray + DVD combo pack, for the first time on either format. A brand new high-definition transfer highlights the incredible story of a hard-working student and the warped way of life that made her go wacky!
Virginia Madsen (Candyman, Sideways) and Richard Cox (Cruising) star in this humorous thriller about the bizarre happenings that occur in a prestigious boarding school. It seems to Andrea Miller (Madsen) that the upper-classmen act like robots. They’re the perfect students – dedicated, involved and loyal.

The CW has released the first promo video for the iZombie mid-season premiere, which can be viewed above. While the title of Season Two’s tenth episode has yet to be disclosed, we can extrapolate some details from the video.
It looks as though a fictitious television show called “Zombie High” will serve as the backdrop for this particular episode. Considering that Liv says “Last night I was watching ‘Zombie High’ and now I’m in it,” it stands to reason that she may be investigating the murder of a member of the cast or crew. Whether or not she lands some kind of role on the show remains to be seen. It also looks like we can expect Ravi to continue his vigilant search for those corpses with tainted Utopium on their person.
Since no official synopsis is available as of this time, we can look to two major...

Obscure and underrated 80’s horror satire Zombie High comes to Blu-ray. I avoided Zombie High for years as it was clear from the (mostly terrible) reviews at the time that it was not really a “proper” zombie movie at all. No virus. No apocalypse. No flesh-eating. No thanks. And since, circa 1987, horror fans wanted these…

Is there anyone who doesn't love zombies? I defy you to show me someone who doesn't love zombies. Well, I'm sure the characters in The Walking Dead aren't too fond of them, but show me a real human being who isn't fascinated by the living dead. Nope, you can't. There is a lot of zombie stuff out there, so we've cut through the nonsense and picked out some of the best zombie goodies from around the web. Zombie High Heels Talk about kick-ass shoes. These towering platform high heels from Iron Fist feature a gruesome, slobbering zombie visage printed on it. It's not all blood n' brains though – a bow at the heel sweetens things up. There is a peep-toe,...

Tremors? Nightbreed? Sundown: The Vampire in Retreat? 976-evil? Are all on the list this year. And though there were not huge horror wins in sound editing through screenplays, the Technical Awards never cease to bring out the horror veterans. Notably Tim Drnec who contributed to such VHS classics as Alien Seed, Destroyer, and Prison won for his work on “Spydercam 3D volumetric suspended cable camera technologies.” An award also shared with Ben Britten Smith and Matt Davis who both also worked on Constantine.
But among all the winners, the Academy also honored some great loses in 2010. And though they mentioned some of our heroes, Dennis Hooper (Texas Chainsaw Massacre 2), Kevin McCarthy (Invasion of the Body Snatchers) and Dino de Laurentiis (King Kong), they did not mention Zelda Rubinstein or Corey Haim. But we will in this last section and the others lost to us last year.
So farewell fight fans and remember,...
