Historical French gangster film
searchanddestroy-18 October 2017
It is a very interesting film taking place in Paris during the few years before WW2. A period when French Nazis - The Hood - began to emerge. Pretty good atmosphere, many excellent, if not brilliant, characters and a faithful and accurate painting of this unknown period of history. Even French audiences know very few things about this era. Roger Hanin is awesome as well as a director as one of the leads. He gives here a very similar as the one he had in LE GRAND PARDON. I am surprised that this film was not still commented. You also have Niels Arestrup in one of his earliest performances, and not of his worst. No Sir... And, of course, last Lino Ventura's performance on screen, a few months before his death. A must see French crime movie.
