sudsy tv dreck

About the only real pleasures to be had from this too typical tv drama are the faux Euro scenery (where did they shoot that?) and the way the luscious Joanna Cassidy fills her clothes. Too bad she doesn't get out of them a little more, that might have given this would-be romantic drama/soap opera a bit of juice. As it is, you'll have to accept Tracy Nelson's attempts to lose her virginity with non-English speaking Italo-stud, Linda Purl's attempts to get it on with a stiff pseudo-Springsteen stand-in and the always welcome Joanna Cassidy's attempts to re-connect w/old flame Barry Bostwick. If only it played as good as it reads...

If you like (the absence of) pleasure, this is it.

This movie was not quite what I expected. It is decidedly downbeat. Movies I like the most are ones which have frequent good times in them. This one has mostly stress (about if to make love) in it. So, if you enjoy the psychological frenzy of, should I ... or shouldn't I? this is the movie for you. Tracey Nelson is pretty; Linda Purl is sophisticated, energetic and gorgeous; and Joanna Cassidy is "looking good."

Already have an idea of a remake

February 16, 2023 was the first time watching the 1986 TV movie "Pleasures". About 30 minutes (22 without commercials) into the film, it might depict a lot of inappropriate things in the workplace and I think I might've realized there was a reason I didn't watch until my girlfriend Breeanna convinced me. Keep in mind that this is coming from the perspective of a 40-year-old transgender woman originally from Van Buren, IN who happens to be a film/TV producer/director and MMJ (formerly broadcast journalist), yet a retired webmaster and retailer.

I am thinking of doing a remake of this TV movie as a #CapriceAndElla 4-part episode as well as a YouTube-film.
