It marks as the second time Paulo José plays the lead on an adaptation from one Fernando Sabino's books. He also appeared in O Homem Nu (1968).
While the book is titled "Faca de Dois Gumes", it comprises of a collection of three short stories: one with such title - of which the film is an adaptation, and two others titled "O Bom Ladrão" ("The Good Thief") and "Martini Seco" ("Dry Martini"). As of 2024, the other stories were not turned into films.
The lead character's name in Fernando Sabino's novel is named Aldo, instead of Jorge used in the movie.
