One of the strongest lineups ever assembled in Nashville – including Reba McEntire, Lionel Richie, Lady Antebellum, Don Henley, Alison Krauss and Chris Stapleton – hit the stage Wednesday night for Kenny Rogers’ farewell tribute concert, but they all turned out to be mere warmup acts for the showstopping main event: the final performance of one of country’s most beloved duos, Rogers and Dolly Parton.
After Rogers, 79, had spent the entire concert watching the event from the side of the stage, he finally took his rightful place, center stage, with Parton about three hours into the show, and the two set...

Season 10 of The Voice has proven to be full of serious talent. From Laith Al-Saadi's roaring, blue-sy melodies to Alisan Porter's unbelievably powerful vocals (which, by the way, never fail to keep us wanting more), some may think the outcome is somewhat up in the air.
However, there can only be one winner and we've put together a list of why we think Alison Porter – yes, little miss Curly Sue – will win Season 10 of The Voice come Tuesday.
1. She's overcome tough odds. The 34-year-old, who has previously opened up about her past struggle with alcoholism, has come a...

"What a Girl Wants," she can get – so The Voice's Alisan Porter has learned from her coach Christina Aguilera!
The rising star and mother of two said Aguilera – who also has two kids, 8-year-old son Max and daughter Summer, 21 months – has taught her about what it takes to be a mom and a rock star.
"She's been the physical representation of what I want to be when it comes to being a working mom in the music business," Porter, 34, told reporters after Monday's show.
The frontrunner added how relieved she was to see such a big star have some semblance of a work-life balance.

Add Stephen Colbert to the list of folks remembering Glenn Frey fondly. The “Late Show” host took a little time on Tuesday to thank the Eagles founder for a song Frey wrote, and a memory Colbert cherishes. “The first slow dance I ever danced to was ‘Desperado,'” Colbert recalled, referring to the tune as “the perfect last song for an Eighth Grade dance when you have danced with no one — because I was, the Desperado.” Also Read: Glenn Frey's Medication Contributed to His Death, Manager Says (Exclusive) “It was one of the sweetest, most beautiful experiences of my life,...

Last night on The Late Show, Stephen Colbert paid tribute to Eagles co-founder and iconic musician Glenn Frey, who passed at the age of 67 on Monday. But since Colbert is Colbert, and he always injects some type of humor into his tributes or serious speeches, he honored Frey with a funny, sweet story about his first slow dance. At Stephen Colbert’s eighth grade dance, he was so nervous throughout the night that he didn’t ask any girl to dance with him. However, when the final song of the night, the Eagles’ “Desperado,” which Frey co-wrote with fellow Eagles member

Following the passing of Glenn Frey, Stephen Colbert shared a personal story on Tuesday's Late Show about a pivotal moment in his life soundtracked by the Eagles guitarist. "I just want to take a moment to thank Glenn Frey for what he gave me. And this is what he gave me: The song 'Desperado,'" Colbert said.
"The first slow dance I ever danced to was to 'Desperado.' It was the eighth grade dance at our local little club," the host continued. "I didn't dance with anybody all...

Glenn Frey, who died Monday at the age of 67, wasn't just the the true leader of the Eagles. As Stephen Colbert recalled on his show Tuesday night, he was also the man who made possible little Stephen's (not that one) first-ever slow dance, thanks to a well-timed "Desperado" at a middle-school dance. Though Frey co-wrote the song, he wasn't the Eagle who sang "Desperado" — that was Don Henley — but that doesn't make this story any less sweet. Welcome to the hotel aww-lifornia.

Among the heartbroken fans reeling from the news of Glenn Frey's death is longtime friend and fellow musician Bob Seger. "I knew him for 50 years," an emotional Seger told Billboard. "He was a great kid. I always kind of thought of him as my baby brother, a little bit. He was f---ing brilliant. He was a joy to be around. I always looked forward to seeing him. It was always memorable. He had an amazing sense of humor and was just smart, whip-smart." The two Detroit natives met during the 1960s when they were both working the local music scene.

I noticed that even as 99% of my Facebook friends were eulogizing the late David Bowie in reverential terms, there were a few dissenters. Aside from a non-musical issue*, the most negative thing I saw about Bowie was along the lines of "I never cared/listened/understood the attraction." It's kind of passive-aggressive, since there's not much point to alerting us all to the fact that you are apparently apathetic yet somehow still feel we all need to hear from you on this trending topic, but it's pretty low-key, so whatever.
Then Glenn Frey died, and a much larger portion of the internet decided that this was the perfect time to remind us how much they hate the Eagles, how bad the Eagles' music is, and how clueless the rest of us are for apparently being deluded into liking them.
Hey, it's okay to not like the Eagles. It's also okay...

The X Factor has unveiled a new set of preview clips as Boot Camp continues on Saturday (September 27).
Van driver Ben Haenow is first up in his attempt to earn a spot at Judges' Houses, and chooses to perform a version of 'Hotel California' by The Eagles.
Haenow manages to get the audience members on their feet and cheering - but it remains to be seen if the judges will send the van driver through.
Also covering The Eagles is Joe Slater, who appears to bore judge Mel B while playing the piano as he sings 'Desperado'.
"I so want to stop him," Mel B declares to her fellow judges, before telling Joe: "That performance was not a performance for me!"
It remains to be seen if Louis Walsh, Simon Cowell and Cheryl Fernandez-Versini will express any opposition to Mel B's criticism.
Mel B only grows more...

The Eagles are not fans of singing competition shows, specifically "American Idol" and "The X Factor."
"The nature of these shows is such is that they make everybody want to be big and big for the camera and big for the audience and you know, for myself I would just as soon somebody just stood there and sing the damn song," band member Glenn Frey told The Hollywood Reporter.
"Yeah, they've turned it into 'Glee,'" Don Henley added, referencing Ryan Murphy's musical dramedy on Fox.
Multiple "Idol" contestants have covered the Eagles' songs, including Season 1 runner-up Justin Guarini, who performed "Desperado." "The X Factor" Season 1 winner Melanie Amaro also performed "Desperado" during her time on the show.
And we'd venture to bet the Eagles wouldn't be fans of legendary "American Idol" reject William Hung's cover of "Hotel California."

Eagles: Hotel California (Asylum/Elektra)
The Eagles were considered one of the top country-rock bands practically from the day the group came together. Certainly the consecutive No. 1 singles "Best of My Love" and "One of These Nights" and No. 2 "Lyin' Eyes" in 1974-75 made them mainstream rock fans' favorite country rockers by a wide margin. Extensive touring ensued, in the midst of which founding member Bernie Leadon (previously in the Flying Burrito Brothers) quit and the more rock-oriented Joe Walsh (ex-James Gang, and already with a moderately successful solo career) took his place after having opened for the Eagles on tour in 1974 thanks to sharing the same manager, the ruthless Irving Azoff.
The reconstituted quintet took its time recording its fifth album. Their eponymous debut had been laid down in two weeks; Hotel California took eight months. Asylum filled in the gap with the best-selling collection Greatest Hits 1971-1975., which,...

There are moments where The X Factor reminds me of a horror-movie version of an industrial farm-raised turkey: Genetically groomed and pumped full of steroids, bursting at the skin with muscle and sinew, and — if it could figure out how to better maneuver its unwieldy form — ready to burst from its cage and brutally flip the carnivore-Thanksgiving dinner relationship.

Geek Girl Navigating the World – “The Music Goes Round My Head”*
Music has always been a big part of my life. When I was a starry-eyed little sprocket, we didn’t watch much TV, but we had a record player. My mom had albums by John Denver and Cat Stevens and The Eagles, and my Dad had Bachman Turner Overdrive tapes. There was even a Bay City Rollers tape in there somewhere. We listened to music while we worked around the house, and it seemed like the radio had a lot more entertainment to offer than local TV stations ever did.
In addition to that, my family tends to be very musical. Most of them play guitars, and when we get together, usually we sing together. I was almost sixteen years old before I realized that not every family does that. I’m not sure why I assumed that everyone...
