For the final week of home media releases in September, genre fans have a lot to get excited over, as we have a multitude of titles coming our way on Tuesday. In terms of recent releases, the Child’s Play remake will hit multiple formats, and both the Jacob’s Ladder remake and the possession thriller Luz (which is Incredible) are heading to DVD as well. As far as classic horror titles being resurrected this week, Scream Factory is keeping busy with both Fear No Evil (1981) and John Carpenter’s Vampires, and Arrow Video has put together some special edition releases for The Hills Have Eyes Part 2, In the Aftermath, as well as both Hellraiser and Hellbound: Hellraiser II (both of which has previously been released by Arrow as part of their Scarlet Box set).

Mountaintop Motel Massacre is a classic example of a slasher movie that had so much potential yet it was entirely wasted! I sort of knew what to expect when I heard mundane things about this movie but I didn’t expect it to be this riddled with plot holes. New World Pictures released this movie in 1986. My mind was massacred while watching this tedious movie.
The plot begins with an insane asylum patient released back into the world and she returns back to the motel she once lived. All is not well when she “accidentally” kills her girl Lori (Jill King) in a fit of rage. I guess crazed mental patient Evelyn (Anna Chappell) was released too soon it seems? The police let Evelyn off (for reasons that make no sense) citing it was an accident. The kills to come are no accident on her part.

When I contacted Tiffany Shepis for Planet Fury's Halloween Memories series, she lit up. "I love Halloween! I love the decorations, the dressing up, the haunted houses, the way the weather is — everything."
Dropping her voice slightly, she confessed, "I am, however, also a giant Halloweeny. I'm the girl attached to my husband's, daughter's, friends' backs while walking through a haunted maze. I get totally freaked out in the strobe light rooms, and I'm fucking terrified to walk through a room filled with hanging body bags."
"I know damn well that they're actors and that somebody is going to pop out," Tiffany explained, "but I just can't help but think, 'Man, if I were a serial killer, this would be the best place to hide out and slaughter somebody.'"
Coming from one of the most badass scream queens working today, this might seem like a surprising revelation. But after...

Every day, more and more classic films get released for the Blu-ray platform. This also means that the classic horror films we love here at Destroy the Brain! also get to be seen in the beautiful 1080p picture quality. Image Entertainment recently announced a number of films that they purchased from Anchor Bay that will be released this year on Blu-ray. Under their Midnight Madness banner, the company will be releasing two of my personal favorites: The Wes Craven classic The Hills Have Eyes and the zombie-cop comedy Dead Heat. To find out when these titles and many more will be released from Image Entertainment, keep reading.
Though no word has been released yet if these are simply just upconverted from the DVD releases, we do know that the only special feature on the Blu-ray of The Hills Have Eyes will be a trailer. (Lame!) The cover art can be seen below.
