Henry Cavill’s Man of Steel was the first step in Zack Snyder’s vision for the Dcu. The director brought it a unique and tonally dark film exploring Clark Kent’s evolution into becoming more human and his past catching up to haunt him. The dark and somber tone of the film left fans divided although Cavill’s impressive performance as Superman was praised.

Over the years, the film has managed to find more love, and the deconstruction of the character by Snyder has been lauded. The admiration of Snyder’s work has seeped into the MCU with Chloe Zhao taking inspiration from it for how she approached Ikaris in Eternals.

While Amazon MGM Studios didn’t take the stage at CinemaCon, they did meet with exhibitors and key press to strut their future theatrical slate, in particular they showed off ten minutes of the Dwayne Johnson and Chris Evans’ movie Red One. While we agree to keep mum about the details of the Santa Claus rescue movie, let’s just say the originally conceived for Prime Video title is definitely meant for theatrical, which is where it’s going on Nov. 15; the only wide release currently on that weekend.

Vin Diesel has had a number of reported feuds throughout the ongoing Fast & Furious franchise. But the most widely discussed and buzzworthy was that with Dwayne Johnson, who first appeared in 2011’s Fast Five and was pretty much a mainstay after. Appearing on the Armchair Expert podcast (via People), John Cena confirmed that there was more than enough bad blood between Diesel and Johnson from what he saw, saying, “There’s certainly rumors about that. It has been often seen in several movies and series that people of color (usually people of African heritage) spot a braided hairstyle. Alongside the braided hairstyle, an almost bald look or a one-side cut is also often seen with these characters.
People might call it stereotypical and even borderline racism, but this was the norm during the early 2000s. Well, with the animated series X-Men: Evolution, one character was almost about to suffer the same fate until the executive producers decided to step in and change it to something unique.

What’s the saying? Oh yeah… third times the charm and the Resident Evil series is no exception. For our third outing we’re here to explore the aftermath of the apocalypse with Resident Evil: Extinction (watch it Here). This one is pretty divisive with the consensus being some people, like myself, loved this film while others felt this was the beginning of the downward slope of sequels of the franchise. Hear me out as to why I sing its praises. For one, it tells a cohesive story and gives us a side of Alice that we’ve been dying to see. We get more new characters that bring gravitas to the story as well as a fully fleshed out villain and it’s a lot of fun. Plus, its pays homage to The Road Warrior in the best way. So, let’s hit up the Sand Dunes of Vegas,...

There's no one way to play Batman. With "Batman Returns," star Michael Keaton cut more than half his lines, making for a broody, mysterious Dark Knight that fit perfectly among the more outlandish freaks that populated Tim Burton and production designer Bo Welch's nightmare fairytale landscape. For his Dark Knight trilogy, however, Christopher Nolan wasn't afraid to let Christian Bale's Batman bellow multiple lines using his now-famous guttural growl.
Both approaches worked, but there's no doubt Nolan's trilogy presented a much more quotable Dark Knight. Several of Bale's most striking Batman lines have now been solidified in pop culture history, with perhaps his infamously overwrought "Swear to me!" from "Batman Begins" being the most salient example. But Bale's Batman wasn't the only part of Nolan's trilogy that proved infinitely quotable. The director's scripts were a treasure trove of meme-able lines, many of which found their way into mass culture almost immediately.

Before Matt Reeves’ “The Batman” opened in theaters in March 2022, there was a lot of discussion online surrounding the movie’s rating. Many comic book fans were hoping to get the first Dark Knight movie with an R rating, but the film earned a PG-13 nonetheless. The universe of “The Batman” is expanding with the upcoming Max series “The Penguin,” starring Colin Farrell as Gotham City gangster Oswald Cobblepot. The actor recently told MovieZine that the series is “incredibly violent,” which should appease the “The Batman” fans who wanted an ultra-violent R-rated cut of the film.
“It was a long and really wonderful experience,” Farrell said about filming “The Penguin” series. “It’s dark; that’s what I can tell you about it. It’s really dark. It’s really heavy, I think— it certainly was doing it. Which is not to say I didn’t have fun, I had an amazing time doing it.

Throughout cinematic history, audiences have been enthralled by an array of villainous characters, ranging from the intellectually formidable to the utterly deranged. While many villains adhere to conventional tropes, there are those whose portrayal transcends cliches, etching a lasting impression on viewers’ minds.
Heath Ledger as the Joker in The Dark Knight
One such character is the Joker, whose many interpretations so far have showcased the immense talent of the actors who brought him to life. Cesar Romero’s portrayal in the 1960s Batman television series marked the character’s first appearance, setting a playful yet sinister tone. However, it was Heath Ledger’s portrayal in Christopher Nolan’s The Dark Knight that truly redefined the role. Ledger’s depiction of the Joker as a symbol of chaos and anarchy resonated deeply with audiences and left an indelible mark.

Fictional secret agent James Bond has gotten into his fair share of scrapes and close calls, but broadly speaking, the high-profile actors who have played him on screen have been pretty safe stepping into the character's expensive shoes. The Bond films have become famous for their jaw-dropping and boundary-pushing stunts, but those moments are the result of teams of people who design and choreograph everything to be as safe as possible for both the stars and their stunt doubles. The James Bond franchise is one of the most lucrative and longest-running film series of all time, but in its very first movie, we nearly lost its first lead actor in a gruesome death that would have robbed movie lovers of some legendary performances and ripped away the franchise's potential before it even got started.

Henry Cavill has a lot of upcoming projects, but the one film he is particularly excited about is the Highlander reboot. The actor is one of the most demanded stars in the film industry at present. His unfortunate exit from The Witcher has opened up his schedule, and he is making the most of it.

One of Henry’s standout roles lately has been as Superman in the Dceu. Despite the mixed reviews of the films, Cavill’s portrayal of the Man of Steel was generally well-received. His hinted appearance in ‘Black Adam’ suggested a growing presence for him in the Dceu, with Cavill reportedly preparing to continue as Superman in upcoming movies. There were even rumors that he turned down a role in Netflix’s ‘The Witcher’ for more seasons, although it was later clarified that he left due to disagreements with the writers and showrunners.
However, things took a surprising turn when it was announced that the Dceu would undergo a complete reboot, and Cavill would likely not return as Superman, as the studio aimed for a younger cast. Instead, Cavill was confirmed for projects like the untitled ‘Warhammer’ project and the ‘Highlander’ reboot. More recently, Cavill has expressed interest in portraying Captain Britain in the MCU.

John Wick franchise director Chad Stahelski has signed a first look production deal with Lionsgate.
Stahelski and his 87Eleven Entertainment banner will bring the Hollywood studio original action movies to collaborate on, with an eye to establishing future movie franchises. The production agreement is separate from a recently announced deal with Lionsgate that gives Stahelski oversight of two franchises: Highlander and John Wick, the latter of which has spanned four films directed by Stahelski and starring Keanu Reeves.
Those films, and Stahelksi’s stunt-focused 87Eleven Entertainment, have been praised for reinventing the action genre. In light of that success, the multi-year first-look production deal, unveiled by Adam Fogelson, chair of the Lionsgate Motion Picture Group, extends and expands the pact between the studio and the John Wick director.

Having been off-screen since at least July 2023, “General Hospital” actor Réal Andrews recently took to Instagram to share an update on his status at the daytime drama series, informing fans that it’s up to them as to whether the show will bring him back as Marcus Taggert.
When viewers last saw Taggert, he was on a downward spiral after learning that the daughter he believed to be his was, in fact, someone else’s through a separate relationship Portia (Brook Kerr) had with Curtis Ashford (Donnell Turner). Despite Trina (Tabyana Ali) going through the most in the months since Taggert last appeared on-screen, including the presumed death of her first love, Spencer (Nicholas Chavez), one would think it was time for the character to make his return to the canvas, and possibly play out yet another twist of parental lineage.

A lot of really fun movies from the eighties and nineties are tough to get decent copies of. While some of the stories have happy endings, other films seem all but doomed to languish until a niche label like Arrow Video, Kino Lorber, or Unearthed Films gives them the TLC they deserve. So, what’s the title we’re worried is Gone Forever here at JoBlo? A cool little thriller (which I previously wrote up for Best Movie You Never Saw) from 1991 called Ricochet has a pretty impressive pedigree. The movie stars Denzel Washington, John Lithgow, Ice-t, Kevin Pollack and The Bionic Woman herself, Lindsay Wagner, while Highlander’s Russell Mulcahy directs it, is produced by Joel Silver, and is written by Die Hard’s Steven E De Souza. In fact, Ricochet takes place in the same universe as Die Hard, with Mary Ellen Trainor reprising her role as snoopy TV reporter Gale Wallens.

One of Henry’s recent standout roles is undoubtedly Superman in the Dceu. Despite the mixed reviews of the films, Cavill’s portrayal of the Man of Steel was generally well-received. With his hinted appearance in ‘Black Adam’ and the expectation of Dceu’s expansion, fans anticipated Cavill reprising his role as Superman in several upcoming movies. He allegedly abandoned his role as Geralt of Rivia in Netflix’s ‘The Witcher’ due to that, though it was later clarified that he departed from the project due to disagreements with the writers and showrunners over their handling of the source material.
The surprise came when Dceu announced a complete reboot, with Cavill unlikely to return, as the focus shifts to a younger cast of characters. However, Cavill’s involvement in projects like the untitled ‘Warhammer 40K’ project and the ‘Highlander’ reboot was confirmed. Most recently, Cavill expressed interest in portraying Captain Britain in the MCU.

Scarlett Johansson, Margot Robbie, Cate Blanchett, and Dave Bautista all star in projects at one of the biggest Berlin markets in recent memory, post and pre-pandemic.
Whether this year’s high-rollers will sell is the crux at a 2024 European Film Market which AGC Studios’ Stuart Ford is describing as a “watershed market.”

We thought there could be only one. Clearly, that’s not the case, as Henry Cavill will be taking over the Highlander series for the upcoming Chad Stahelski-directed reboot. And while filming is expected to begin a little later this year, Cavill is ready to head back to the gym.
Speaking with Collider, Henry Cavill said he’s on the verge of beginning his intense training program for Highlander, saying, “The training is about to begin in earnest. It’ll be a very long training process, and I’m very excited to get into it.” But that’s about all Cavill offered, adding, “There’s only so much I can tell you at the moment. I want to keep everything under wraps for as long as possible.”
As of now, we do know where Stahelski is partly taking inspiration from and somewhat where in the timeline Highlander will be set.

After years of development hell, a remake of Highlander is finally on the way, courtesy of John Wick filmmaker Chad Stahelski. Henry Cavill will play the lead.

Given that various filmmakers have tried and failed to get a Highlander remake off the ground for well over a decade now, it seemed that perhaps Stahelski would end up tackling the samurai film first. Not least because PlayStation Productions seem pretty trigger-happy when it comes to getting as many projects as possible on its slate.
