Tango, politics, love and hopes...

Highly stylish, wonderful film. Dreamlike cinematography. Great performances. Best Gardel since Gardel. Cabrujas' original play has become sort of a cult, specially in Hispanoamerica. "The Day You Love Me" is a timeless story. Although is a period film (1930s),it is current and lucid. I saw it again recently and it hasn't aged. It is somehow intellectual, and some references might seem obscure to the average audiences. Great for tango lovers. No dance, though. The lyrics of the songs are fantastic. Gardel made several films for Paramount Studios in New York. Thanks to Gardel, the Tango permeated the international music scene and film industry.
