Balasko's first film
emmanuelrabu18 April 2022
Cinematographically, scriptwriting often sucks, but the film is shot through with a few poetic scenes (a horse in town that escapes, children on the beach), actors (coluche in particular) and a representation of social failure (as Michel Blanc with Marche à l'ombre and Jugnot with Une époque formidable) typical of the 80s, which alone are worth the detour on Balasko's first production.

Director Josiane Balasko reveals the strengths and weaknesses of two ordinary women.
FilmCriticLalitRao14 November 2014
French actress Josiane Balasko has always surprised her audiences with her acting. As a film 'Sac De Noeuds' gave her complete freedom as an actress as well as a director to make an entertaining film about funny adventures of two women who would like to alleviate their suffering at any cost. Apart from Josiane Balasko as a lady battling suicidal tendencies, Isabelle Huppert looks convincing in her role as a confused young lady who has been subdued by her violent husband. It is curious to watch how some comic circumstances compel them to get rid of all their obstacles in order to find a solution to problems related to their personal lives. French film 'Sac De Noeuds' is the perfect example of a successful comedy film which can be watched by people from all sections of the society. It is a good amalgam of various genres namely comedy, drama and thriller. This film is unique for various reasons. Firstly, it was the first film which Jacques Audiard jointly wrote as a script writer. Secondly, it was one of the last films which featured Coluche, one of the greatest personalities of French cinema and cultural life. Those who know Josiane Balasko as an actress would not miss it. Those who are not aware of her contributions to French comedy would make a good decision if they choose to watch this film.
