Funny movie in which Arturo Fernandez and Francisco Rabal give likable as well as portentous characterizations
ma-cortes2 February 2016
Filmmaker Miguel Hermoso , who gives his first public shooting , delivers an enjoyable comedy in which the main and support cast are frankly outstanding . As the main attraction resides in its excellent cast in which stand out the magnificent stellar pair . This film is made to entertain , and this movie , especially for a good time and a pleasant entertainment . Its plot is the following : During his stay in Carabanchel jail , the veteran delinquent Gines (Francisco Rabal) promises protection to tax evasive and swindler Gonzalo Millares (Arturo Fernández) at exchange for help when they out of prison . In Carabanchel prison Gonzalo befriends other sympathetic inmates as the elderly Cueco (Emilio Fornet) , the bouncer Chino (Fernando Bilbao) and Lupas (Rafael Díaz) , all of them escort him against a nasty Macarra (Angel Alcazar) . As Millares relies his security on Gines , an old roguish who rules over the dangerous prison . Out of prison the womanizer Gines finds again the drunk Gonzalo , provoking disasters , antics , fights and all kinds of distresses .

This buddy movie well titled ¨Truhanes¨ results to be other of the innumerable stories to deal with rogue people and their adventures , swindles , confrontations , frolics and many other things . Nice film shot in ¨Comedia alla'Italian¨ style with great actors , entertainment , narrative excitement and fun . This film moves in fits and starts most of which would be desirable and several moments of enjoyment and others quite a few ridiculous . The characters are quite odd , grotesque and geek and the film races on at incredible speed . Here debutante writer and filmmaker Miguel Hermoso carries out a solid comedy , achieving a big hit at the Spanish box office . Duo protagonist , Francisco Rabal-Arturo Fernández , are top-notch , they steal the show , both of whom turn an efficient acting . Support cast is frankly good , such as Isabel Mestres , Antonio Gamero , Vicky Lagos , Emilio Fornet , Fernando Bilbao , Alberto Fernández . And special appearance by Lola Flores plays the role of Ginés' sister . Atmospheric musical score by the great musician Jose Nieto ; soundtrack includes some catching songs , as the song that Ginés plays over and over again in the bar is "La Zarzamora", one of Lola Flores's biggest musical hits.

Competent filming in the hands of a good filmmaker , as the motion picture was professionally directed by Miguel Hermoso , at his feature debut , being filmed in his usual stylistic way , without leaving amusement and fun . Ten years later , Hermoso and the same duo , Rabal-Arturo, shot a ¨Sitcom¨ that also had much success as well as the original film . Miguel Hermoso is an expert on comedy as proved in ¨Loco Veneno¨, ¨Marbella¨ and drama such as ¨Como Un Relampago¨, the biopic ¨Lola¨ about Lola Flores , ¨Luz Prodigiosa¨ and his greatest hit was ¨Fugitivas¨ . Rating : 6'5 , good movie . The picture will appeal to Arturo Fernández/Francisco Rabal fans and Spanish comedy enthusiast .
