It would perhaps be a just assessment in labelling Friends as The sitcom. Its status as a classic is undeniable: it has been off-air for only 10 years and yet it is still loved by millions; rumours are constantly unfolding across the internet with regards to an apparent movie reunion; its cast are always questioned about it, despite its last episode airing in 2004; and it is repeated every. single. day. on TV. It is the sitcom to end all sitcoms.
Or it was until The Big Bang Theory came along, that is. Whilst not reaching the dizzy heights of 52.46 million viewers which Friends achieved for its final episode, The Big Bang Theory does achieve incredibly impressive viewing figures. In its debut run it dipped to 7.34 million viewers and yet it now regularly surpasses 15 million. Its popularity is undeniable.

The African Diaspora International Film Festival (Adiff) has set the Zuko Nodada indie dramedy "Between Friends," as the Centerpiece film for its 2014 edition - a South African film in the tradition of "The Big Chill" and "Peter’s Friends," as the filmmaker describes it. "Between Friends" explores the strains and old rivalries between a group of old college friends who reunite at a game lodge in KwaZulu Natal, 7 years after graduation. Haunting their reunion is the secret of a wild night they spent together at the very same lodge years ago. Long buried secrets shared by the old friends are eventually exposed, causing...

A fan-favorite character is on her (or his) way to Mystic Falls! Could it be our old friend Katherine?
It’s been too long since we’ve seen Katherine (Nina Dobrev) on The Vampire Diaries — more specifically, far too long — but a new spoiler gives suffering fans a glimmer of hope. HollywoodLife.com‘s sister site TVLine recently teased that “an imminemt, shocking and much-anticipated return” is about to take place, and I can’t help but keep my fingers/toes/fangs crossed that they’re referencing Elena’s other fanged persona.
We haven’t seen Katherine since she appeared to Elena in a vision on the Nov. 15 episode, shortly before Elena and Stefan (Paul Wesley) called it quits. (See? Crazy things happen whenever Kat’s around!)
I think I speak for everyone when I say we’re ready to see her again soon in the flesh.
Who Else Could...

The gang needs Klaus’ help to find Damon, Jeremy & Bonnie! Will Caroline have to take advantage of Klaus’ love for her?
What happens on the island doesn’t always stay on the island, as this new clip from the Feb. 14 episode of The Vampire Diaries reveals. Elena (Nina Dobrev) calls Caroline (Candice Accola) to update her about their missing pals — Damon (Ian Somerhalder), Jeremy (Steven R. McQueen) and Bonnie (Kat Graham) are all M.I.A. — and things quickly take an ‘Original’ turn.
Here’s What Goes Down, Word-For-Word:
Elena: Maybe there’s something you can do from home.
Caroline: Anything, tell me!
Elena: Well, Shane’s looking for the cure. We think we can find him. We have pictures of Jeremy’s tattoo, but we just can’t translate the map.
Caroline: Unless you get the Hunter’s Sword from Klaus…
Elena: Exactly.
Rebekah: He’ll never give up the sword.

All three of the network’s hit dramas will return for the 2013-2014 TV season.
Christmas has come early — or late, depending on how you read your calendar — for CW junkies, as the network has officially renewed The Vampire Diaries, Arrow and Supernatural for additional seasons!
The CW announced Feb. 11 that The Vampire Diaries will be returning for its fifth season, while Arrow is being renewed for a second, and Supernatural — the network’s longest-running scripted series — will be airing its ninth.
“We said last year that one of our goals was to establish building blocks to grow on, and now with our new hit Arrow and fan-favorite Supernatural on Wednesday night, and the continued success of The Vampire Diaries on Thursday, we’ve been able to do that,” says CW President Mark Pedowitz. Watch this new clip from the Feb. 14 episode for an update on Stefan & Elena’s complicated relationship.
This week’s episode of The Vampire Diaries may be airing on Valentine’s Day, but love is definitely not in the air between Stefan (Paul Wesley) and Elena (Nina Dobrev), as they officially solidify their relationship status as “friends.” But in true Tvd fashion, Rebekah (Claire Holt) misinterprets the interaction as more than friendly as she watches the exes interact from a distance.
Here’s Stefan & Elena’s word-for-word interaction:
Elena: Once again, everyone’s life is in danger looking for this cure, because poor Elena can’t deal with being a vampire.
Stefan: No, everyone’s here because they want to be. Not just for you, but for themselves, too.
Elena: Stefan, why didn’t you tell me that you wanted the cure for yourself?
Stefan: Why wouldn’t I want to take it?...

Following a crowd-pleasing, sample-laden set at Pitchfork Music Festival two weekends ago, Flying Lotus has released a new song, “Between Friends,” available for download now through Adult Swim’s Summer Singles Program. The song features an appearance by erstwhile Odd Future prodigy Earl Sweatshirt, who seems to be keeping himself busy following a return to music earlier this year. Also guesting on the song is one “Captain Murphy,” who appears to be neither the Swedish rock band nor the Sealab 2021 character of the same name. Flying Lotus’s new album, Until the Quiet Comes, is set to be released ...

Chicago--"I don’t know why Rihanna complained, Chris Brown could beat me anytime he wanted to.”
This Tweet and similar others circulated in the days following Sunday’s Grammy Awards, where Chris Brown, known primarily as a singer and secondarily as the allegedly abusive ex-boyfriend of pop star Rihanna, performed twice during the two-hour show. His appearance came in the middle of Teen Dating Violence Awareness Month.
The flippant responses to Brown's appearance -- from other artists, from the Grammy Foundation, which does extensive outreach work with youth, and from young people across social media platforms -- were especially jarring considering statistics showing that 1.5 million high school students will be abused by a dating partner in the Unite States this year.

During her astronomically successful career, actress/comedienne Carol Burnett has worked with some of Hollywood's most legendary names, including Lucille Ball and Elizabeth Taylor, whose recent passing Carol is still mourning.

Director Will Gluck had a fairly middling (yet harmless) introduction with the world through Fired Up! but his follow-up, Easy A, has earned him a place as one to watch. With more eyes on him, he’s chosen to make Justin Timberlake perform oral sex on Mila Kunis while singing a Semisonic song. Ivan Reitman, on the other hand, is a veteran. He’s the man who directed every movie you liked in the 80s. He’s hit a snag as a director recently (with My Super Ex-Girlfriend), but he’s on fire as a producer. Friends with Benefits is the Casual Sex Between Friends Armageddon to No Strings Attached‘s Deep Impact. Both movies deal with the same exact plot, both involve incredibly attractive people that in no way would ever realistically be hurting for carnal pleasure, and both come out around relatively the same time. Who will come out on top? Probably...

There are plenty of genres that are lacking on the Wii. From role playing games to first person shooters, the console simply doesn't offer as diverse of a lineup as its competitors. However, there is one genre that stands out above and beyond all the others, as being the most neglected: fighting games. Yes, there's the reining king, "Super Smash Bros. Brawl," but other than that, there were only a handful of titles, and most of them weren't that noteworthy (the overwhelming majority have "Naruto" in the title) until now. Capcom has just released their first entry in their hallowed Vs. series in years, and it's on Nintendo's little white wonder. "Tatsunoko vs. Capcom: Ultimate All-Stars" is looking to fill that gap with a quality title from a company that knows a thing or two about fighting.

Cthulhu Unbound: Volume 2 edited by John Sunseri and Thomas Brannan, continues to inspire thrills from its nightmarish monstrosities with each short tale. Fifteen writers are again asked to create a world dominated by devilish creatures, the likes which author H.P. Lovecraft could only have imagined.
In the first volume, the breakneck pace came to a sudden halt by the numerous references to H.P. Lovecraft’s mythology. As a reader, I would sometimes have to stop and look up these citations to understand the story better. In this volume though, the writers concentrated less on the obscure references and more on elevating the suspense and atmosphere; which were the two elements Lovecraft concentrated on in his works. The best usage of the two is in “New Fish” by A. Kiwi Courters. A new inmate arrives at an isolated prison island. The other prisoners soon discover he is performing satanic rituals to conjure up a bloodthirsty demon.
