The final film in the Dcamu, Justice League Dark: Apokolips War brought together many classic characters from the DC roster into the forefront to battle Darkseid. The film series which began with Justice League: The Flashpoint Paradox saw many characters that were not usually explored in the mainstream such as Constantine, Raven, and more.
One such character was Etrigan the Demon, who joined the Justice League in their battle against Darkseid. Etrigan the Demon is known for his magical powers and his bond with the immortal knight Jason Blood. The Demon is also known for his penchant for rhyming while speaking, which was done away with Justice League Dark: Apokolips War. Spoilers ahead.

The series about the lives of high school students ran for exactly ten years – from 1990 to 2000. The most successful seasons of Beverly Hills, 90210 were watched by 14.5 million viewers in the US alone, and by the same number of fans around the world.
During this time, the main characters evolved from shallow high school students to complex personalities, dealing not only with common teenage problems, but also with more serious issues such as alcoholism and domestic violence.
Despite the fact that the main characters became world famous, Beverly Hills, 90210 was the first and last major project for most of the cast.

In early 2023, James Gunn and Peter Safran introduced their rebooted universe named Dcu, unveiling a comprehensive lineup of projects. The most recent release in the Dceu was ‘Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom’ last year, which achieved some success, especially compared to many MCU films from that year that struggled with critics and box office performance.
In January, Gunn and Safran revealed the initial projects of the Dcu lineup and announced the team of writers responsible for crafting the overarching story: Drew Goddard, Jeremy Slater, Christina Hodson, Christal Henry, and Tom King. They outlined a plan spanning eight to ten years, divided into “chapters,” with potential for further expansion. The first chapter, ‘Gods and Monsters,’ featured films like ‘Superman’ (originally titled ‘Superman: Legacy’), ‘The Authority,’ ‘The Brave and the Bold,’ ‘Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow,’ and ‘Swamp Thing,’ alongside television series such as ‘Creature Commandos,’ ‘Waller,’ ‘Lanterns,’ ‘Paradise Lost,’ and ‘Booster Gold....

In early 2023, James Gunn and Peter Safran presented their own new rebooted universe dubbed Dcu and presented a full slate of projects. The last movie released within the Dceu was last year’s ‘Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom’ which was somewhat of a success when you take into account that nearly all MCU movies released that year failed both when it comes to critics and when it comes to the box office.

Gunn and Safran are pushing forward with their revamped Dcu, with several projects currently in the works. One notable project is ‘Superman,’ which recently began filming in Atlanta. Another significant project, ‘Peacemaker,’ was confirmed to be part of the Dcu, with Season 2 already in development. Gunn assured fans that the transition between Dceu and Dcu, at least concerning ‘Peacemaker,’ will be smooth and clear. Gunn also announced that Season 2 of ‘Peacemaker’ is fully written and will receive more attention after ‘Superman’ wraps filming. Recent rumors suggest that filming for ‘Peacemaker’ Season 2 and the upcoming show ‘Waller’ may happen concurrently in 2024, based on information shared by Daniel Richtman on his private Patreon.

Gunn’s and Safran’s newly revamped Dcu is going full steam ahead, as several projects are currently in development, most notably ‘Superman,’ which only recently started filming in Atlanta. One notable project that was retroactively stated to be a part of the Dcu is Gunn’s ‘Peacemaker.’ ‘Peacemaker’ Season 2 was already confirmed to be in development when Gunn clarified that the show will be canon to the Dcu and that he will make it work in a way that is not confusing for the fans at all, and that the transition between Dceu and Dcu at least as far as ‘Peacemaker’ is concerned will be as smooth as possible.
Back in February of this year, Gunn announced that the second season of the show is fully written, and after ‘Superman’ finished filming, it’s going to get more of his attention. Now, according to the most recent rumors shared...

THR reports that DC has tapped a writer for the upcoming Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow movie. Ana Nogueira has closed a deal to pen the movie, and it’s actually the second time she’s been hired to write a Supergirl movie. All good things must end, and that axiom rings especially true for the quirky, fan-favorite Max original series Doom Patrol. The show releases the second half of its fourth and final season this October, with six brand-new episodes after a nine-month mid-season hiatus that began this past January. Adapting the DC Comics’ superhero team of the same name created by Arnold Drake, Bob Haney, and Bruno Premiani, Doom Patrol has leaned into the most absurd possibilities of the genre, combined with the heartbreak that comes with being transformed into a misfit hero through horrifically weird science.
However, more than just examining the peculiarities of being a superhero, Doom Patrol has the bizarre distinction of being a program caught between shuffling streaming platforms, confusing shared universe connections, all while trying to tell its own story across four seasons. And frankly, for a team as unorthodox and weird as the Doom Patrol is,...

The old DC Universe is dead, long live the DC Universe. As we get closer and closer to the rebirth of James Gunn and Peter Safran's new DC hierarchy of power, there is plenty to be excited about, from new takes on iconic characters and also fresh new faces making the leap to the big screen.
One of the most exciting aspects of the new universe is the opportunity to get deeply weird, and no project feels as full of potential for weirdness as "Swamp Thing." We don't know much about the movie just yet, but it is a sign of confidence, Swamp Thing was the first upcoming DC movie to get a director announcement (other than James Gunn tackling "Superman: Legacy"), so it is clear DC's resident green monster will be an important part of the new universe.

Pro wrestler Terry Funk has died, according to WWE and pro wrestler Mick Foley. Funk was 79 years old.
Along with wrestling, the highly respected performer worked in film, including multiple Sylvester Stallone projects as far back as 1978’s “Paradise Alley.” Funk also appeared in “Over the Top,” did stunts in “Rocky III” and choreographed the climactic fight in “Rocky V.”
Funk was also featured in the cult classic film “Road House” and Johnny Knoxville’s “The Ringer.” He also had TV roles on shows such as “Quantum Leap” and “Swamp Thing.”
Funk was best known in his later years for pioneering “hardcore” wrestling, which involves using weapons and sharp objects, such as barbed wire, to both simulate and cause actual damage in order to increase the drama in a match. This often involved copious amounts of bleeding. Funk was also infamous for wrestling multiple “retirement” matches before quickly coming back afterward.

The new DC Universe won’t just roll out on the big screen as a number of television projects are also in development. One of those projects is Creature Commandos, an animated series which features a black ops team consisting of monstrous prisoners formed by Amanda Waller. While speaking with Collider (before the SAG-AFTRA strike), David Harbour teased the Creature Commandos is “wildly funny.“

Long before every conceivable comic book character received a film adaptation in the hopes of becoming the next blockbuster, there was Superman. While box office returns diminished over the course of four movies, the Man of Steel’s big-screen success heralded a crop of other superhero movies. Producers Benjamin Melniker and Michael E. Uslan swooped in to acquire the film rights to DC Comics’ other most well-known character, Batman (and they remain executive producers on every Batman movie), along with a more obscure title, Swamp Thing.

Veering sharply away from the visceral horror that put him on the map, Wes Craven followed up the game-changing The Last House on the Left and The Hills Have Eyes with the one-two punch of the silly, surreal Deadly Blessing and the comic-book adaptation Swamp Thing. An enjoyable enough romp if taken as an amiably lunk-headed action flick, Swamp Thing starts off with an effectively mounted first act that soon gives way to a lot of splashing around in the swamps, punctuated with some incongruously poetic (and oddly endearing) Beauty and the Beast-type moments, and liberally peppered with all the airboat crashes and cigar-chomping David Hess close-ups you could ever want. Add to that running tally Adrienne Barbeau doffing her wardrobe for some tastefully lensed skinny-dipping and an ultra-suave, Nietzsche-spouting turn from Louis Jourdan as villainous Dr. Anton Arcane and it all adds up to a surefire cult film in the making.

The new 'Swamp Thing' film will be a "Gothic horror movie" inspired by 'Frankenstein', according to director James Mangold. The 'Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny' filmmaker is set to helm the upcoming movie which is part of the new DC Universe and he wants to explore what it means to be a man-turned-monster and Mary Shelley's 1818 novel and the subsequent film versions of 'Frankenstein' will be an influence.Speaking to Variety, Mangold spilled: "While I’m sure DC views ‘Swamp Thing’ as a franchise, I would be viewing it as a very simple, clean, Gothic horror movie about this man/monster.“I am interested in making something that works from beginning to end — to curtain. Otherwise, I’m working on the world’s most expensive television show."I've been toying for years with the idea of making a kind of 'Frankenstein' movie.

While doing the press rounds for Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny, James Mangold (whose previous credits include The Wolverine and Logan) is looking ahead to the next franchise films he’ll be working on: the Star Wars prequel Dawn of the Jedi and the DC Comics adaptation Swamp Thing… but Mangold told Variety that he doesn’t have a franchise mindset when he approaches projects like this. For example, he doesn’t see Swamp Thing as just one chapter in the huge DC Universe, but as its own standalone story – and not a superhero movie, but a horror movie.
Talking about the idea of franchise building, Mangold said, “The amount of lore and Easter eggs and fan service starts to become antithetical to any of this stuff at a certain point. It isn’t storytelling anymore. It’s large-scale advertising.” So when it comes to Swamp Thing:...

It was announced earlier this year that a brand new Swamp Thing horror movie is on DC’s slate of upcoming projects, said to “investigate the dark origins of Swamp Thing.” James Mangold (Logan, Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny) soon became attached to direct for WB/DC, and Mangold provides an update in a new chat with Variety.
During the chat, Mangold stresses multiple times that he’s not interested in treating franchise installments like feature length episodes of a television series, but rather his intent as a filmmaker is to tell complete stories from beginning to end. In other words, don’t expect Mangold’s Swamp Thing to merely be a small part of much larger DC plans for the character.

Before Indiana Jones entered director James Mangold’s life, Harrison Ford told him he was worried Indy was looking too old.
It was the fall of 2019, and Mangold had joined the team working on the film adaptation of “The Call of the Wild,” in which Ford plays a rugged frontiersman, to help with reshoots. In their downtime, Ford began confiding in Mangold about the fifth “Indiana Jones” movie, which had been bouncing around in development for the better part of three years. Steven Spielberg and screenwriter David Koepp had conceived a roughly five-minute opening sequence set during World War II, in which Ford would be digitally de-aged. Ford wasn’t sure it was a good idea.
“Harrison told me he was nervous, because he felt like if people saw him younger, when they confronted Indiana in his 70s they’d be disappointed,” Mangold says, sitting on a cream-colored couch inside...

With “The Flash” speeding into cinemas this weekend, its tenacious director Andy Muschetti has cut a deal to stay in the DC Universe.
As per The Hollywood Reporter, the Buenos Aires-born filmmaker and his producing partner/sister Barbara Muschetti have signed on to make “The Brave and the Bold” for Warner Bros. Discovery’s DC Studios unit, overseen by James Gunn and Peter Safran. This is the title that will introduce the world to the newest iteration of the Dark Knight Detective of Gotham City, Bruce Wayne, the Caped Crusader, also known to you and me as Batman.
“We saw ‘The Flash’ even before taking the reins at DC Studios, and knew we were in the hands of not only a visionary director but a massive DC fan,” Gunn and Safran said in a statement. “When it came time to find a director for ‘The Brave and the Bold’, there was really only one choice.

It’s official: Andy Muschietti is going to the Batcave.
Ahead of the release of his superhero movie The Flash, Muschietti has decided to keep his feet firmly in the land of DC.
Muschietti finalized a deal to direct The Brave and the Bold, the feature project that will introduce a new big-screen version of Batman, one that will fit into the expansive universe being developed by DC Studios heads James Gunn and Peter Safran.
The involvement has been whispered about for several weeks. Muschietti, who has been on the Flash press tour, has been coy about his connection. But a deal was finally closed this week, according to a source, very conveniently timed to the opening of his movie.

Andy Muschietti is officially suiting up to direct a new Batman film, Variety can report exclusively. The film is one of several new DC Studios titles mapped out by leaders James Gunn and Peter Safran earlier this year.
Muschietti, behind this weekend’s superhero release “The Flash,” will direct “Batman: The Brave and the Bold.” The project is based on the comic series authored by Grant Morrison, who Gunn called “exceptionally influential” on in the DC Universe in January. The comics imagine a “Bat family,” where Bruce Wayne’s biological son Damian serves as Robin to his dad’s Batman. Muschietti’s sister and creative partner Barbara will produce the project via their label Double Dream, alongside Gunn and Safran.

A new episode of the Revisited video series has just been released, and in this one we’re looking back at a movie that some may not consider to be a horror movie, but at the very least it is an “experimental psychological thriller” from a highly respected genre director. The director in question is David Lynch, and the movie we’re talking about today is the 2006 release Inland Empire (get it Here). To revisit Inland Empire with us, check out the video embedded above.
Written and directed by Lynch, Inland Empire tells the following story over the course of its 180 minute running time: Nikki, an actress, takes on a role in a new film, and because her husband is very jealous, her co-star Devon gets a warning not to make any romantic overtures — especially since the characters they play are having an affair. Both actors learn that the project...

Warner Bros. Discovery CEO David Zaslav praised “Guardians of the Galaxy” director James Gunn during MoffettNathanson’s inaugural Technology, Media & Telecom Conference, questioning why the filmmaker and now DC co-chief was not put in charge of the entire Marvel Cinematic Universe.

The original Swamp Thing is from 1982; it took seven years to get a sequel, a change of director, and a massive shift in tone. If the first one was very 1980s, this one is 1980s to the max! The sequel to Swamp Thing takes the tongue-in-cheek route all the way to the bank. Or at least all the way to the end credits. For a film that cost $3 million, making less than $300,000 at the box office was abysmal. However, looking back at the film now, it’s a fun ride. Is The Return of Swamp Thing (watch it Here) a perfect film? Far from that. Is it a good movie? Debatable. Is it cheesy? 4 brie cheeses out of 5. How much...

Filmmaker James Gunn’s new “Superman” movie is off to the races. The “Guardians of the Galaxy” writer/director announced on Tuesday morning that early pre-production has begun for the new film, with costumes, production design “and more” now “up and running.” Gunn also revealed that he’s finished writing the full script.
“Superman: Legacy” — which Gunn wrote and will direct — is slated for release on July 11, 2025 and will tell the story of Superman’s journey to reconcile his Kryptonian heritage with his human upbringing as Clark Kent. Per DC Studios, “he is the embodiment of truth, justice and the American way, guided by human kindness in a world that sees kindness as old fashioned.”
What Gunn did not mention in his Tuesday announcement is casting, but the hunt for a new Superman is on after Gunn and co-dc Studios CEO Peter Safran decided to revamp the property rather than...

Once streaming services like Netflix, Hulu and Prime Video siphoned viewers off from the networks, everyone wanted to get in on the streaming game. That’s led to some great services like Disney+, HBO Max, Paramount+ and Apple TV+ with original programming you can’t get anywhere else.
Quibi ad in the subway | Alexi Rosenfeld/Getty Image
Not every new streaming service made it though. It’s the nature of the business. There are probably dozens of obscure streaming services that never made a dent, but these five were supposed to be somewhat big things. They’re gone now, but we can still pour one out for them.
Quibi was a misguided streaming service from the start
Perhaps the most notable streaming service flameout was Quibi. Short for “quick bites,” Quibi separated shows into segments under 10 minutes, the idea being that you could watch them in shorter blocks than 30-60 minute shows.

While Pinball: The Man Who Saved the Game may be about, well, the man who saved the game (Roger Sharpe – played here by Mike Faist), the story also involves a complex supporting lead in the form of his partner Ellen. To mark the film’s release we had the pleasure in speaking to the actress who brings the character to life, Crystal Reed.

When James Gunn and Peter Safran took over DC Studios, the duo didn’t mince words: this was a brand “in chaos.” Their mandate: as Safran explained in late January, “to build an extraordinary standalone studio with the best IP and stories in the world.” But while the pair have already laid out their plans to do just that over the coming years, they also arrived in their new gig with existing material — including five films, all part of that “chaos” — that was primed, ready to go, and dated.
One of those films: David F. Sandberg’s “Shazam! Fury of the Gods,” which opened last week to a limp $30 million opening weekend. As IndieWire’s own Tom Brueggemann noted in his weekly box office wrap, that’s more than 40 percent down from the initial DC Comics film in 2019 (with ticket prices at least 15 percent lower). The world of "Star Wars" is full of great characters that are instantly recognizable, with some even reaching icon status. Characters like Darth Vader, Darth Maul, and Boba Fett have simple yet memorable designs that can be boiled down to recognizable silhouettes. Even when their personalities and characterization aren't all there (like with Maul and Boba), their look tells you everything you need to know about them.
Then there are all the different and unique alien creatures in the franchise, like the Jawas, the Gungans, the Twi'leks, or the Mon Calamari. These feel like nothing else on film and TV, and they make the "Star Wars" universe feel bigger and more lived-in because it's more than just humans and human-like creatures that inhabit this sci-fi galaxy.
This is why it's so hilariously cool that, when "The Mandalorian" introduced the latest addition to the greatest "Star Wars" characters ever, it really is just space Swamp Thing.

The DC Extended Universe as we know it seems to be nearing its end, or at least a very comic book-like, universe-shifting reboot. Reflecting the corporate changes at the higher echelon of Warner Bros. after its merger with Discovery, Inc., the company's DC branch is facing its own changing of the guard, bringing in filmmaker James Gunn and producer Peter Safran to head the "DC Universe." Gunn's initial slate of films and television series, dubbed "Chapter One: Gods and Monsters," will introduce heroes like Supergirl, Booster Gold, and Damian Wayne, as well as Swamp Thing, who is arguably the most exciting part of Gunn's roster.
Gunn is clearly a fan of the weirder and uglier sides of both Marvel and DC comics. He helped turn the Guardians of the Galaxy from an obscure team of C- and D-list cosmic heroes to Marvel headliners, and then repeated the formula with...
