Bad taste comedy about Hitler and the rise of the Nazi's is not particularly funny, but worth a look for those who like very off beat or bad movies
dbborroughs12 December 2005
What is this movie? Its a weird weird comedy styled as a documentary about the rise of Adolf Hitler as well as the story of two brothers, one a magician and Nazi, the other an anarchist anti Nazi. It uses old footage, new footage and the mix of the two to create a bizarre, occasionally clever, but never laugh out loud funny comedy.

Frankly this is one of those so bad its okay films (good would be pushing it). The jokes run the gamut from clever, but not really funny to potentially offensive (dog concentration camps) but not really funny. Much of it is obvious to anyone who's seen any World War Two comedies spoofing Hitler. Its broadly played to mixed effect. The problem with the film is that the gags take forever to get to a punchline. It will be two or three minutes of not very funny set up for a joke that isn't funny...at least not in the way it was intended.(you laugh at the film not with it.) The poor structure of the film makes the film drag in the second half since it simply becomes the same slow paced set-up/punchline over and over again (and is so awful they had to create a couple of lovers separated by the war to help string out our attention). Its a film to laugh at not with.

I can't really recommend this film to most people, however if you like bad films, puny films or strange "what were they thinking" movies, I'd give it a look with the understanding that this is really at the edge of being a "watchable" film.

(The print of this film I saw bore the title 'Loggerheads" and was dubbed into English and had Greek subtitles)

Hard to come by, thus easy to miss (luckily)...

In short: this one is a farsical account of the life and times of one Adolf Hitler. It is an uncoherent excuse of a film staggering from a "gag" to another with slow pace and no budget. The "story" consists of jokes sometimes loosely referring to actual events in 20th century history, mostly, however, just reiterating old war movie cliches. Unimaginative use of archive footage doesn't help either.

Luckily this one is hard to find, so it is easily avoided as well!

Very funny movie, not PC by today's standards
juliette-114659 February 2019
I thought this movie is very funny and clever. It's not a single story and more like a collection of sketches. As I was watching it, I thought some people would find it offensive today due to the sensitive topic of WW2 and Hitler's crimes. Although it mostly makes fun of the Nazis, some people could say it trivializes the horrors of the war and genocide.

Still, I was disappointed with the low rating of this film. I'm in my 20s and I understand that back in the 70s movies were made differently than today and I am able to appreciate it. Don't expect this movie to be like what you see in theaters 30 years later. Yes, the gags sometimes take too long to get to the punchline, and yes the jokes sometimes seem flat, but that's because we are used to a different style of comedy today. This movie is a product of it's time, and it must be evaluated as such. I've seen a lot of movies with Celentano and they are great, but if they ran in theaters today they would look weird.

If you don't have an appreciation of good old movies, don't even bother with this one. But if you have an open mind and are capable of appreciating a different style of movie, give it a try. Don't take it too seriously and don't be offended. The entire movie is trolling the bad guys.

You have to have the right humor to like this...

This movie is very funny in my personal opinion. BUT I can understand that people don't like it because it's just not their kind of humor. It contains a lot of funny jokes (in my opinion) but some people might find them offensive. The story takes place in the time of the Nazis and it makes fun of them, Hitler, etc.. so if you don't like this kind of humor, don't watch the movie! But it made me laugh a lot and there are a lot of these stupid random comments (that are very Celentano like) and I love that :)
