America’s Got Talent will be back on NBC this summer, and we can’t wait to see the impressive performers who make their way to the competition.
On Monday, the network confirmed that the highly anticipated 19th season will debut on Tuesday, May 28, at 8/7c.
Once again, Simon Cowell will lead the search for the next wave of performers alongside returning judges Heidi Klum, Howie Mandel, and Sofia Vergara.
Terry Crews will continue as host, and NBC promises we’ll see some of the “wildest acts” ever to appear on the show.
There will likely be a hiatus after the auditions conclude due to NBC’s commitment to airing the 2024 Paris Olympics.
The good news is that the network has already revealed when we can expect the live shows to get underway.
How will the Olympics impact America’s Got Talent?

It’ll be a game-filled summer for NBC, but a busy Olympics schedule won’t leave room for two of the Peacock’s reality series: LA Fire and Rescue and Hot Wheels: Ultimate Challenge have both been cancelled, our sister site Deadline reported Monday.
LA Fire and Rescue gave viewers unprecedented access to the inner workings of the Los Angeles County Fire Department. Premiering in May of last year, “the series documents real calls and real drama while giving faces to the passionate firefighters who risk their lives in the name of service,” reads its official description. “These real-life heroes...

Mattel CEO Ynon Kreiz is weighing in on the forthcoming Barney film that has Daniel Kaluuya attached.
“It’s too early to be specific, but I can tell you we are taking a fresh approach that will be fun, entertaining and culturally oriented. It will not be an odd movie,” Kreiz told Semafor in an interview.
Mattel is leaning in on producing films based on their IP and earlier this year Mattel Films executive Kevin McKeon teased that the Barney film would be “surrealistic.”
“We’re leaning into the millennial angst of the property rather than fine-tuning this for kids,” McKeon said in an interview with The New Yorker. “It’s really a play for adults. Not that it’s R-rated, but it’ll focus on some of the trials and tribulations of being thirtysomething, growing up with Barney—just the level of disenchantment within the generation.”

Episode 6 may be the best episode of The Changeling yet. We were all praises of Lakeith Stanfield’s performance in episode 5, but Clark Backo hits it out of the park in this one. We really see her determination as a mother to get to her son (the real one) after she destroyed everybody’s trust, especially Apollo’s, and fled the scene. While Apollo thought she was a murderous witch, acting on the orders of Cal and her women, Emma was busy trying to make her way to her son. Clark has the ability to be frightening in one second and then emotional in the next, balancing the act of being a mother on a mission in between all of that. Truly great stuff from her here. Let’s quickly get into the episode.
Spoilers Ahead

As Barbie continues its global domination, grossing over $1 billion at the box office after only its third week of release, the appropriate parties continue victory laps around their respective Malibu Dream Homes.
Last week, in between fielding questions about Hollywood’s dual strikes, Warner Bros. Discovery CEO David Zaslav and other Wbd execs invoked the Barbie name several times during the company’s second-quarter earnings report, noting that the movie will be a boon to third-quarter.
During Mattel’s quarterly earnings report at the end of July, CEO Ynon Kreiz called Barbie a “milestone” in the toymaker’s history. “The biggest shift in our strategy and in our DNA was to realize that people who buy our product are not just consumers, they are fans,” said Kreiz.

This piece was written during the 2023 WGA and SAG-AFTRA strikes. Without the labor of the writers and actors currently on strike, the movie being reviewed here wouldn't exist.
At this point, the "video game movie" classification feels just about as broad and changeable as that of a "superhero movie." Is there any point in lumping together movies like "The Super Mario Bros. Movie" or "Detective Pikachu" with "Resident Evil: Welcome to Raccoon City" or "Uncharted"? (Does anyone even remember "Resident Evil: Welcome to Raccoon City" or "Uncharted"?) By the same token, any lingering talk of an all-expansive "curse" associated with these adaptations increasingly comes across less like some inexplicable barrier that studios have (mostly) been unable to cross, and more to do with the idea that simply trying to translate a medium as idiosyncratic and immersive as video games into the wildly different language of film has always been self-defeating.

The era of toy movies has arrived. Weeks ahead of the official release of Greta Gerwig’s Barbie, the iconic toy company Mattel has made headlines for even more toy-inspired flicks in the works, including an “A24-type” movie about Barney and, now, a “gritty” film adaptation of Hot Wheels produced by J.J. Abrams.
In a new report from The New Yorker offering a run-down of the upcoming media projects Mattel is engaged in, fans received a preview of what the forthcoming Hot Wheels film will be like. The project — produced by Abrams’ production company, Bad Robot — was first announced over a year ago in April 2022, and will reportedly be “emotional and grounded and gritty,” though the script has “yet to materialize.”
“For a long time, we were talking to Mattel about Hot Wheels, and we couldn’t quite find the thing that clicked, that made it worthy of what Hot Wheels — that title — deserved,...

Bill Wyman will reportedly reunite with The Rolling Stones on their upcoming studio album.
The Sun reports that Wyman joined the band at a Los Angeles recording studio at the invitation of Mick Jagger. The as-yet-unannounced album is a tribute to late Rolling Stones drummer Charlie Watts, who died in August 2021 at the age of 80.
“Bill hasn’t seen the band together for years but always loved Charlie. This record’s really a tribute to Charlie, so he couldn’t say no,” a source told The Sun.
Wyman hasn’t appeared on Stones album since 1989’s Steel Wheels. He departed the band four years later in 1993. He later reunited on stage with Jagger, Watts, Keith Richards, and Ronnie Wood for their 50th anniversary tour in 2012.
The Rolling Stones’ new album will also feature drum parts recorded by Watts prior to his death, as well as contributions from surviving Beatles members Paul McCartney and Ringo Starr.

Is it a bird? Is it a plane? No, it's a superhero movie... and they've taken over Hollywood with their superpowers and Spandex costumes. The Guardian and Observer's critics pick the 10 best

Shane Black's jagged-edged debut in the Marvel hotseat might easily have been a by-the-numbers "threequel", especially with star Robert Downey Jr out of contract and The Avengers' stupendous box office success a year earlier. Instead, the Kiss Kiss Bang Bang director delivered the series' best instalment so far via a perfectly-pitched twist that comes about as close as the superhero genre will ever get to its very own Crying Game moment.

Where could this mesmerizing photo come from?
The answer exists and Joe has it below. But, first, just look at this magical image. Just look at it!
So…from where could this evocatively arty still originate?
Surely it’s a Euro Art Film!
Is it…Last Year at Desert Rock by the Italian auteur Giacomo Arnoldo?
Well… no. But almost.
It’s actually a memorable visual from a 100% Amurkan Hollywood movie– Jack Arnold’s 1953 3-D classic It Came from Outer Space.
I was fortunate enough to get to know Jack during the 70s, as his daughter Susan was the casting director of Piranha, The Howling and Gremlins. She had also acted for her dad (along with Piranha star Belinda Balaski) in the Fred Williamson vehicle Black Eye as well as Al Adamson’s The Female Bunch. Truth be known, I had kind of a crush on Susan during Piranha, but...
