Filmed in New Orleans
toddinskeep3 September 2018
My parents randomly encountered the film crew in New Orleans and ended up walking through one scene (for several takes) as extras one evening. They had a good time and have some fun stories about why it took several takes.

I was Barbi Benton's guitar player in this movie!

This was a made for television CBS Movie of the Week. The producers of this movie saw my band, Dixie Blue, playing in a club on Bourbon Street and hired us as extras to be Barbi Benton's band in the scene where she is playing a concert at the Superdome. We didn't actually play any music, but pretended to play our instruments while they filmed the scene. I got some face time in the movie standing next to Barbi playing my ES335. We also got to meet Harry Morgan, one of my favorite actors. I wouldn't say that it is a great movie, but we had a lot of fun filming our scene. They paid us pretty well, too, more than the extras who were just part of the crowd scenes.

An Incident during filming
mikejhelms8 June 2010
I was 23 living in the French Quarter selling Lucky Dogs outside Al Hurt's place on Bourbon Street when I happened upon a film shoot of Murder at the Mardi Gras so I stopped to watch. In the scene Harry Morgan was a cop delivering a line something like, "Anything can happen during Mardi Gras." I don't know why Caesar Romero was in the city but he happened to walk by and half a dozen women in the crowd simultaneously and breathlessly gasped, "Caesar Romero!!" The director's shoulders sagged as he yelled "Cut." Romero realizing he had inadvertently ruined the shot waved to the director and with a charming laugh called out "Sorry" and quickly moved on. Fun times.

My Twin Brother and I were Extras in this movie.

Wow, my twin brother and I were extras in this movie when we were 10 years old, i remember meeting all the stars and all the fun we had. We are now 39 and I have to tell you... we searched for this movie for years and now we have found it. What a wonderful time it was... We along with about 20 other kids in school were picked for this and if I remember right, we got about 3 mins in the movie but it felt like the star role! A must see movie. Many things have changed and if we had it to do over I would do it again. We had lunch and time with all the stars and it was wonderful. It is the one thing I can say I was a star for 3 mins..

Warning: Spoilers
I was an extra in this movie. Found out about it from my brother, who was in the film business. He was the cop with Harry Morgan in the quarter. His name was Leonard. I was the waitress in the deli scene with DeeDee Cohn. I was carrying a plate of éclairs and she jumped over the counter and grabbed my hand when she found out that she won. It was such a blast. Had to get dressed for the part in DeeDee's trailer and when I came out Ron Silver was waiting to walk me into the deli. Some little girls were running behind me for my autograph b/c they thought that I was DeeDee. I was so embarrassed and Ron Silver told me to go ahead and sign my autograph. So I signed my name. The scene in the deli took about 6 hours to film. How do you get a copy of the movie?

Murder At The Mardi Gras is a cheesy 1970s movie
climbingivy17 August 2011
Warning: Spoilers
I watched "Murder At The Mardi Gras" a couple of weeks ago.I saw the movie when it originally aired on television oh so many years ago.I was stuck by how much movies have changed even on television. Most made for television movies that are made currently today are either unwatchable because of the music soundtrack or too violent or the subject matter is politically correct nonsense.Just getting past the music that is played in the movies that are made currently whether a made for television movie or a theatrical release is so bad.Whining chick singing or lousy generic country music.I enjoy listening to the disco soundtrack of the 7os in the TV movies made back then."Murder At The Mardi Gras" is good because the story is light there are a lot of 1970s actors who could not act and of course the 1970s disco type soundtrack. Also the location settings look authentic. If you want to see a cheesy 1970s made for TV movie, then check this one out.I have this movie.
