An excellent picture of the gap between the "have and have not" in developing economies.
Jorge Romero16 July 2001
It is an excellent movie, well crafted, with great music and outstanding performances. It tells the story of a young man looking for a better life in the cosmopolitan city of Caracas, Venezuela. He found enormous difficulties in coping with the raw realities of a crime-ridden city and his personal ambitions and goals as a hard working, rural man. He made a good friendship with a crook "city man" in whom he trusted and learned the "ins and outs" of Caracas. It is a film full of a very fine and, sometimes, cruel humor, but it shows a country (could be any developing country for that matter)trying to figure it out who they are and, more importantly, where they are going. I do recommend the film extensively. Great movie, beautiful scenery, great experience ... and I am positive that none will be disappointed.
