We’ve have films like Bug, Slither, Arachnophobia and more to exploit our fears of entomophobia, but what about video games? tinybuild’s Kill It With Fire is more humour than horror, but luckily (and for Fps fans), indie developer Heinn’s Chitin is here to rectify that.
Submitted as part of itch.io’s sewerjam 3 (and available for free on itch.io), there’s not a lot in terms of story for Chitin. Heinn laments this, instead focusing on atmosphere. According to them, their main goal for Chitin was to “try and evoke what I felt going through the rot part of Dark Souls 3 snow Dlc.”
But really, do you need much in terms of story when you’re trying to survive as you make your way through a bug-infested building, shooting them as you go? Your revolver has infinite ammo, but it’s offset with a long reload time.

The Movie: "Night of the Creeps"
Where You Can Stream It: PlutoTV
The Pitch: Back in 1959, a seemingly possessed alien launches a canister into space, but it crash lands on Earth. As the canister falls, a rookie cop named Ray Cameron warns a pair of lovers that a maniacal ax murderer is on the loose and to stay safe before driving away, but the boyfriend of the duo foolishly decides to investigate what he believes to be a falling star. The young woman is killed by the murderer, and the boy opens the alien canister only for a slug-like creature to slither into his mouth.
Fast forward to 1986, and nerdy college students Chris Romero (Jason Lively) and his roommate J.

Say what you will about his choice of subject matter to joke about on Twitter, but filmmaker James Gunn has a very tight and loyal group of friends. You can see this throughout his films, as the director has been known to use the same group of actors on most of his projects, whether it’s on his low-budget films like “Slither” and “Super” or his big-budget Marvel outings like “Guardians of the Galaxy.”
One of those actors that seem to be stuck on Gunn like glue is none other than Michael Rooker.

A cinematic shapeshifter who never feels like she’s wearing a disguise, Tilda Swinton is one of the greatest chameleons the movies have ever known, and yet even her most extreme performances are rooted in an elemental sense of reality. She’s always equal parts natural and unnatural; intractably human, but always ready to be reborn. Revisiting her best roles almost feels like watching someone perform “Cloud Atlas” as a one-woman show.
To date, the characters Swinton has played include a vampire, a rock god, an angel, an alcoholic, an inter-dimensional monk, a gender-bending English nobleman, a post-apocalyptic Sarah Sanders, a literal ice queen, and now — in a bold new reimagining of Dario Argento’s “Suspiria” — a witchy ballet teacher, a male Holocaust survivor, and a monster who viewers will have to meet for themselves. It doesn’t matter if Swinton is starring in a Marvel movie, coldly seducing Leonardo DiCaprio in “The Beach,...

It takes a lot to stand out when you’re standing between Robert Mitchum and John Wayne. And it surely isn’t easy when you’re also standing in front of the venerable Howard Hawks. But this was the position 25-year-old James Caan found himself in when he took on the role of Alan Bourdillon Traherne, otherwise known as Mississippi, in Hawks’ 1967 Western, El Dorado. Though Hawks was nearing the end of his filmmaking career (this would be his penultimate movie) and Caan was just at the start of his (following two features and about five years of extensive television work), they were each entering the project under similar circumstances. Indeed, it was their shared experience on the disappointing Red Line 7000 (1965) that left them both wanting. It may have been a personal letdown for Caan, but that film’s poor reception wasn’t a deal-breaker as far as his prospects were likely to continue.
