Saturday Night Live this weekend was hosted by the Big Bang Theory’s Jim Parsons, who did a fair enough job of shedding the persona of the geeky character he’s best known for playing.
'Saturday Night Live' Recap
For the cold open on Saturday, SNL treated viewers to Kate McKinnon reprising her take on Ellen DeGeneres. Much like when McKinnon debuted her impersonation, the jokes focused on the talk show host’s dancing and talking about herself – as “I’m Ellen,” once again served as a catchphrase.
Breaking from tradition again, SNL brought out the host prior to his or her opening monologue. In the cold open, Parsons played Olympic figure skater-turned-Olympic host Johnny Weir, rocking leather pants and a fabulous pompadour.
I’m Not That Guy
Parsons’ opening monologue tackled the major concern that many had with the actor taking up hosting duties – the perception that he’s Sheldon Cooper.

There's always one day during the Sdcc when you just shake your head, laugh, and say, "This schedule is ridiculous." Saturday, July 20th, is shaping up to be that day this year.
Horror fans will have a lot of choices to make as the "Bates Motel" panel battles the one-two punch of Godzilla and Seventh Son. Later in the day you'll be faced with choosing to learn more about "True Blood," Telltale's The Walking Dead video game, or "Being Human." Right now 20th Century Fox's presentation that runs at the same time remains "To Be Announced," but once details are revealed, we'll provide an update.
Other panels vying for your attention throughout the day are "The Originals," "Grimm," I, Frankenstein teamed with The Hunger Games: Catching Fire (that combination should make for some interesting audience reactions), a look at gameplay from Dead Rising 3 on the Xbox One, more games, comics,...

As trailers and its stars saturate the airwaves a week ahead of release, The Hunger Games was dealt some extra, unexpected marketing on Thursday. Two songs from the upcoming dystopian Ya novel adaptation have leaked online: Taylor Swift's "Eyes Open" and Kid Cudi's "The Ruler & The Killer." Photos: 'The Hunger Games' Cast Lionsgate has already released one song written for the film by Swift, the lead track "Safe & Sound," which features the band The Civil Wars. That one was a bit darker than this new one, which plays to the emotions of the stolen childhood aspect

With a little more than a month left until "The Hunger Games" finally makes its way to theaters, the full tracklisting for the official companion soundtrack has been revealed. Taylor Swift and The Civil Wars' collaboration "Safe and Sound" came out way back in December, and today (Feb. 13) we can hear the second tune from the album.
The Decemberists contributed the original song "One Engine" for the film adaptation of Suzanne Collins' Ya novel, and you can download the tune now if you pre-order the soundtrack on iTunes. Oscar-winning music producer T. Bone Burnett ("Crazy Heart") and composer James Newton Howard oversaw the music for the film, and the pair has chosen a great mix of artists.
Collins has said District 12 is supposed to be located somewhere in Appalachia, so the fact that there are quite a few country and folk artists on the soundtrack makes sense. Also on...
