Sex & Nudity

- The porter urinates against a castle wall (although his back is facing the camera).
- One scene near the beginning where the witch lifts her tunic in front of Macbeth and Banquo, and we get a brief close-up of her genitalia.
- Macbeth is led into a cave by a fully nude ugly witch to find the three witches along with a large group (20 or 30) of other witches performing a naked ritual. The camera does not shy away from anything, and we get a clear view of these witches' entirely nude body, genitalia included.
- MacDuff's twelve year old son stands naked in front of his mother for an extended period of time while she is bathing him.
- Lady Macbeth is entirely nude during her infamous sleepwalking scene.
- Lady MacDuff walks out of her room and sees one of her servants being raped by three soldiers. This scene is extraordinarily explicit and very disturbing.
Violence & Gore

- The whole film has bloody violence, although the graphic parts are very brief.
- The opening scene shows the bloody aftermath of a battle. Injured soldiers are shown being stabbed and shot with arrows, followed by a very disturbing scene where all the prisoners of the rebel army are hung.
- King Duncan is shown being murdered by Macbeth. Macbeth covers his mouth, stabs him repeatedly, and then slits open his throat. This is also depicted in very graphic and bloody detail.
- Banquo and his son are ambushed. His son escapes, but Banquo does not, and he is stabbed repeatedly, while blood is shown squirting everywhere.
- Banquo's Ghost returns to haunt Macbeth in the Banquet Scene. He is shown with an ashen white face while blood squirts out of his neck and pours down his face like a waterfall.
- When Macbeth returns to find the witches, they are creating a potion in their cauldron using blood as well as the entrails and organs of animals. This is very gory.
- The witches then show Macbeth a series of very frightening and oftentimes bloody images in their apparition, including one brief scene where a woman is cut open and a baby is cut out of her womb.
- The most gory scene depicts Lady MacDuff's son brutally murdered right in front of her. In the same scene, she runs out her room to find a whole army killing everyone in the castle. We also see one soldier violently raping a servant girl.
- Young Siward enters into the castle with a small army and challenges Macbeth. After a lengthy fight, Macbeth draws a dagger, and we get a very close-up view of the dagger cutting open Young Siward's throat while blood squirts out in very graphic detail.
- After killing Young Siward, Macbeth proceeds to slaughter numerous other soldiers who came in with him. He slashes open one man's face and then stabs him in the stomach with an axe. He then cuts open another man's chest and stabs him in the groin. This is very brutal and gory, and the scene goes on for a long time.
Profanity

- Brief mild language such as damn and hell. Cock is said once when one character says he was "waiting for the second cock".

- Lady Macbeth deliberately gets King Duncan's chamberlains really drunk so that Macbeth can murder the king and blame the guards for the murder.

- The scene where Macbeth is given the visions by the witches is a frightening and surreal sequence
- The entire film is very frightening, intense, and disturbing

Violence & Gore
- Macbeth is beheaded by MacDuff at the end. His head falls onto the ground from the terrace of the castle, while blood sprays everywhere and pours down the castle wall. His head is then shown on the end of a pole. This is very graphic though brief.
