Silly and baffling comedy in vaudeville style with all Spanish-star-cast
ma-cortes17 June 2023
So-so Spanish comedy starred by fine actors and full of absurd incidents, twists and turns . Regular Spanish comedy with no much sense dealing with Julieta (Carmen Sevilla) and Alberto (Juán Luis Galiardo) , they are a married couple who lead a quiet life . Julieta is married to Alberto - who runs a veterinary clinic - without suspecting that he affectionately cares for the owners of the animals . She is unaware that her husband uses the veterinary clinic to care for the clients more than the animals . But then someone tells Alberto that his wife is cheating on him and he can't believe it . To test the fidelity of her wife, he decides to harass her with fiery love letters that he signs with the pseudonym "The Adventurer Count" . The letters are dictated to his friend Max (José Sacristán) married to Laura (Mari Carmen Yepes) , Julieta's best friend , but Max, who is trying to seduce a woman, sends him the same letter that Alberto's wife receives . Meantime , Julieta tries to hunt down her adulterous husband and for this she hires a prostitute (Mirta Miller) as a seducer woman and while Alberto chases Julieta at a costume party trying a loving bait by means of his friend in disguise , in order to discover her red-handed adultery . Eventually , the three couples switch partners in a complex combination of their members , and they will end up together in an apartment . All of them become involved into a great number of non-sense happenings , plot twists and screwball situations .

Amusing but mediocre comedy with disconcerting set pieces about three married couples and their betrayals , lies and marriage cheating . One of the last films by director Julio Buchs, this is a comedy of love entanglements , written with his usual screenwriter Federico de Urrutia and which marked the rise to popularity of the prestigious actor José Sacristán . Typical Spanish comedy with a choral casting in a rather slight story about adultery shot in the early 70s Spanish period . And being full of frivolity , egoism , duplicity , and deceits . It is a mediocre and embarrassing picture and it lacks sparkle , mayhem and madness of the other Spanish comedies , adding a ridiculous script . The film belongs to the endless saga of Spanish comedies from the seventies that were made exclusively for commercial purposes, with no other aim than to justify some ¨Destape¨ scene , out of the blue , with appalling plots and irritating scripts . Juan Luis Galiardo plays his usual character at the time, an insufferable handsome man , flirtatious and cheeky, with razor-cut hair , who undoubtedly had his audience . Highlights , above all, a great plethora of notorious actors playing attractive roles, formed by the three married couples : Juan Luis Galiardo-Carmen Sevilla , José Sacristán-Mari Carmen Yepes , Jaime de Mora y Aragón-Helga Liné . Once again Jaime de Mora y Aragón, always playing himself repeating the role as a stiff aristocrat , but only Carmen Sevilla is acceptable . Along with other fine secondary players , in fact the main entertainment of the movie is to guess which support actor appearing here and there , including as follows : Manolo Codeso , Mirta Miller , Gogó Rojo , Rafael Hernández , Jesús Guzmán, Emilio Laguna ,Luis Morris , Tito García , Goyo Lebrero , Maria Isbert , Beni Deus , José Riesgo , Santiago Rivero , Fabián Conde , Eduardo Calvo , Rufíno Ingles , Emilio Rodríguez, Ángel Ter , Xan das Bolas , Francisco Rabal cameo , among others

The motion picture written by Federico de Urrutia and based on an idea by Carlos Blanco , was regularly directed Julio Buchs , including a lot of flaws , gaps and shortcomings . Julio was a fine artisan who wrote and directed some thrillers, comedies and Westerns until his early death at forty six years old. As he directed thrillers as ¨Alta tension¨, ¨El salario del crimen¨. Dramas as ¨Encrucijada para una monja¨, ¨Trompetas del Apocalipsis¨. Paella westerns as ¨Mestizo¨, ¨Los desesperados¨, ¨El hombre que mato Billy the Kid¨. And comedies as ¨El apartamento de la tentacion¨, ¨Una señora llamada Andres¨ and ¨Cuidado con las señoras¨. Rating : 4/10 , below average comedy . Moviegoers refrain and avoid it at whatever cost.
