Criminal comedy with Spanish-star-studded cast giving likeable and enjoyable performances
ma-cortes4 October 2021
Funny and disconcerting mystery murder in which plot twists , silly happenings and suspenseful incidents are continuous . A criminal comedy with killing , suspense , turns and brief doses of humor with tongue-in-cheek . Nuria (Concha Velasco) is an attractive woman who makes up her mind to become a widow , because she is fed up with her hubby (Sergio Mendizabal) , an ornithologist expert on history . With the help of two former suitors Roberto Clavijo (José Luis López Vazquez) , and Pepe Orozco (Fernando Guillen) , Nuria makes a thorny decision : to murder her husband . Then , an obstinate police Inspector, Comisario Miranda (Alfredo Landa) , starts investigating the rare events resulting in unexpected consequences.

A hilarious comedy dealing with a criminal intrigue in which a beautiful married woman devises a plan to kill her husband . The film moves in fits and starts most of which would be desirable , with some moments of enjoyment and others quite a few embarrassing and extremely ridiculous , as well . This is a mystery comedy movie with a main question , who's the killer ? In fact , there are various suspicious people : the lover , the suitor , the maids ..... From the beginning a murder occurs , from now on , being developed an agreeable intrigue containing several comical and twisted elements . Bemusing and diverting comedy by prolific writer/director Jose Luis Saenz de Heredia and the always sympathetic Conchita Velasco , at the time they were a couple and both of them worked get together in various films . Based on a fun and surprising play from notorious writer Miguel Mihura , a famous playwright expert on theatrical comedies . Here stands out the main and support cast with plenty of familiar Spanish faces , such as : Alfredo Landa , José Luis López Vázquez , Fernando Guillén, Josele Román , Sergio Mendizábal and special mention for the veteran Julia Caba Alba in his usual role as a servant.

It displays an adequate and atmospheric cinematography by Federico Larraya . As well as lively and moving musical score by Anton Garcia Abril . The motion picture was uneven but professionally directed by Jose Luis Saenz de Heredia . He was a controversial figure in Spain because of his strong and unabashed support of dictator Francisco Franco . And he belonged a long lineage of cinematic artists , being uncle of director Álvaro Sáenz de Heredia , grandfather of Rodrigo Sáenz de Heredia , father of Ricardo Sáenz de Heredia ; furthermore , cousin of politician José Antonio Primo de Rivera . Heredia had a long career from the Forties , directing the polemic film, ¨Raza¨, and ¨Franco Ese Hombre¨ . Subsequently, he made notorious dramatic films as ¨El Indulto¨, ¨Los Ojos Dejan Huellas¨, ¨Aguas Bajan Negras¨, ¨Diez Fusiles Esperan¨, ¨El Escandalo¨, ¨Don Juan¨, ¨Mariona Rebull¨. Later on , he turned to comedy genre including titles as ¨Faustina¨, ¨Historias De La Radio¨, ¨Los Derechos De La Mujer¨, ¨Todo Es Posible En Granada¨ , ¨Se Armo El Belen¨, ¨Relaciones Casi Publicas¨, ¨Juicio De Falda¨s.... many of them vehicles for popular actors as Concha Velasco, Manolo Escobar , Paco Martinez Soria or Alfredo Landa in Heredia's last movie : ¨Solo Ante El Streaking¨ . The picture will appeal to Concha Velasco , Alfredo Landa and José Luis López Vázquez fans . Rating . 5.5/10 , passable and acceptable.
